Only the web browser supports portrait mode through this release.

I got the update this week with no problems and I can still use the auto rotation in the picture viewer (but only when the picture is in full screen mode. IE: With no icons on screen). This is the same function as before the big updates this week.

Is your auto rotation still functional for other rotation sensitive apps like gpodder, pannuci, or the web browser (after you hit CTRL-SHIFT-o in the browser)?

I had this problem too. 1 or 2 reboots and it just fixed. I want to say that before the last update n900 was better.

funny. i'm almost certain the picture browser changed to portrait with the original firmware, but i'm not 100% sure. it certainly is stuck in landscape now with PR1.1.

Before 5 minutes I had a broblem that I couldnt browse fotos by touch and photos werent changing to the direction of the phone. I rebooted and only the first fixed. The second like yours is still here, I can smell a bug

i wish somebody with the original firmware could check if we're really right that the picture browser used to have portrait mode.

i wouldn't file a bug about this as long as i'm not really sure.

(and we're not talking about the actual image viewer here, right? this still goes to portrait if i change the device orientation.)

I was only talking about the image viewer (it didn't switch to portrait mode in fullscreen image view). After closing and starting the photo application again it worked (as long as I don't zoom).

Works fine here. But if i enable portrait mode for browser "which by the way is just proof of concept" and leave browser background and then browse my images and try to rotate picture full 360 in picture viewer it suddenly minimizes window. Reason for this seems to be browsers own rotation.

Vote this bug 8087 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8087) for this problem and if you want the bugs in my signature.

like it says on bug page

if you do this they rotate:

activate camera
enter photo collection from camera interface
select a photo (full screen)
rotate the device --> the photo rotates

my pictures also stopped rotating after the latest update. more reason to port a 3rd party image viewing app?

I flashed my N900 with the firmware from the site (not OTA) and it works fine, might be an issue when updating OTA

I updated via OTA (using apt-get, not app manager) and rotating works fine.

I never even knew you could use portrait for photo's until now! Anyway, i have latest firmware and portrait in browser enabled, and i can rotate and scroll through photo's in portrait when in full screen mode.

Okey. I would say that "Photos" is Picture browser and if I understand you guys correctly you (and I) have noticed that rotation doesnt work in "File Manager".

F2thaK

the file manager no longer supports portrait mode after update.

i have come to this conclusion from using the 'personal photo frame' widget. touching this widget takes you to your photos. before the update, doing this the photos do rotate to portrait. now, they dont.

either that or the widget has changed (?)

after the update:

- going to photos thru "photos" the photos also rotate to portrait
- thru file manager photos do not rotate.

can anyone confirm that photos do indeed rotate in file manager?

thanks

Yeah same here, only when accessing the photo from file manager and going full screen it doesn't rotate.
