HI there...
Have just ordered an n800, and can't wait to pick it up when I'm back home in the US in a few weeks. Having looked on here and elsewhere and seen some video footage of the n800 in action, I notice that it only acheives 1 fps on youtube and google video, etc., out of the box. It would seem that there has been some talk about how this will/can be improved.
How can I look to getting better quality streamed video out of the n800. I am a total novice with a little tablet like this, but I am reasonably PC-aware. Any ideas/solutions?
Thanks for everyone's help, in advance!

YouTube on the move could be done with VidConvert (http://www.bleb.org/services/vidconvert/) or, soon, MaemoTube (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/maemotube/)
Hopefully Adobe/Nokia will also get a more optimised version of the Flash plugin in a future OS 2007 update.
HTH,
Andrew

The content I'm most hoping to be able to view on the n800 says it requires Windows Media Player (although on my PC it opens within the page, much like YouTube does). Will the n800 be able to handle this, or is there a way to work around it if it can't?
PS - thanks for that response above, ... will be trying them when I get my new n800!

@ aflegg's, What a wonderful link, video convert!
*Thanks for that!
hey it's not choppy on second attempt of another video...awesome!
I can't believe it converts to full screen! First attempt makes the audio out of sync, but at least it plays without choppyness
During a meeting with the Nokia Product manager, I remember her mentioning it would be something they're gonna improve (or at least try to!)
BTW, to access maemotube, do I have to register?

Glad you liked VidConvert :-)
MaemoTube's something that aleksandyr's planning, but hasn't yet released any code for. There are some other threads about here containing more info.

oh vidvonvert is very good;
1. optimisation to full screen
2. option to stream
3. opion to save, (since already converted, will play on n800, unlike other video dl)
3. option to upload and convert your own
the only drawback it seems is loss of sync on larger files
(plus maybe length of queue when it's busy) but it's better than nothing.

I don't know how well it works on an N800 (mine has not yet arived) but Orb (http://mycast.orb.com) does real time transcoding and streaming of YouTube.
