Nothing works. My gmail is not syncing sent messages. My MFE can not accomplish initial sync with Exchange 2007 server. I think that Nokia software team needs to be fired, and replaced by capable, ex Apple people, that KNOW how to make idiot proof software.

Why not ex-Google people?

Did you know that the software in N900 is designed to evaluate the user's IQ by analysing usage patterns, then post it to a secret database which Nokia later sells?

For a start,

the software in Maemo is not meant for idiot :D

Well, given that there are sent messages to be synced in the first place, I take it that "Nothing works" is an exaggeration. I've heard of people having a lousy time with the e-mail app, although my personal experience has been quite good.
Aside from that, though, with all due respect, this post is completely useless unless you want to incite a flamewar. If you find a concrete bug ("it doesn't work" is NOT concrete), then head over to bugs.maemo.org and file it (first searching to make sure it isn't already filed). If you have a suggestion, send it to Brainstorm. If you want to rant and exaggerate, then do it on your blog - not here.

It was made fairly clear early on that the N900 wasn't idiot-proof. I've seen some bugs that made me *facepalm*, and as a programmer I've seen some things that were a bit painful. I knew that going in, and I wouldn't trade it for any phone out there. Presumably you bought an N900 instead of (or at the very least, as well as) an iPhone, and presumably there were reasons for that. If you like Apple's design, go with Apple. If you think they, others, or yourself have some good design ideas, then you're encouraged to suggest them to Nokia, who in my experience is a lot more accessible for that sort of thing than most companies. If you had some misconceptions, that's too bad, but it's hardly a reason to call the whole Maemo division incompetent - that's both inaccurate and rude.

Why not ex-Google people?

Because you don't "Quit" Google... *ominous drums* :P

Weird. MfE workes fine for me, and Nokia Messaging is doing a fantastic job with an IMAP account and Gmail.

Wow, in nearly half your posts (all of which are about email) you suggest Nokia should fire everyone and hire ext apple folks. Maybe you're an ex-apple guy? :p

Opinions are like as*holes - everyone has one and they mostly stink. Are you implying, good sir, that you are an idiot?

Okay, amusing as it was, picking on the OP's unfortunate usage of "idiot-proof" is getting a bit old now. Seeing as the OP hasn't been writing snarky comments back at you yet, why don't we just let the thread lie before it blows up. :)

Not syncing sent/drafts to IMAP accounts is WONTFIX.

The email client also works great for me, I have nokia messaging setup with Ovi, Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo and it all works great!

No problems with the sync schedule either since PR1.1. Mfe also works great connecting to nuevasync to sync up both my contacts and my calendar with google!

There is always room for improvements but everything works as expected for me...
