When the N900, fully runs out of battery, there is the battery "ping" sound that it also emits when it's very low.

Then there are a series fast blips and pings. It sounds to me like a Morse Code SOS call ...---...

Any other ideas of what it is?

It's not morse code. It's just a sound.

This is morse code:

Incidentally, it says "Low Battery"

You can use it to you want to.

Since I am bored, I made a replacement battery depleted shutdown sound. Nothing fancy, just used my MBP's text to speech function, along with Audio Hijack Pro.

File goes in /usr/share/sounds. Back up your stock ui-recharge_battery.wav file. I rename back-up files to backup-xxxxxx.xx (where x is file name and extension)

heh, reminds me that nokia phones for the longest time used sms in morse as a audio notification for new sms.

My friend's phone can apparently pulse SMS messages out *in* morse code using the vibra motor. I couldn't help but think of devious uses for that...
