1) Close the slide out keybord then tap the screen where you want to add text.
2) touch the screen near the top right then press the little blue cog that appears

you have to activate the virtual keyboard in the preferences/settings too.

just go there and one of the first icons should be something like "text input". :)

when you have tapped the cog you will see the words "desktop menu" with a blue aroow pointimg down, press it.

Whenever you see the blue arrow more options are available.

you can create a shortcut for contacts through "ADD SHORTCUT"

You can only create one of each shortcut.

There is not shortcut for texts, you need a shortcut to "conversations"

You have to add the "calander" widget to get to tasks.

There may be a third party app you can add, not too sure.

There isn't, by any chance, a shortcut to the contacts app on a desktop other than the one you're trying to add it to?

If so, delete it from that desktop. It will then show up as available to be added to the desktop you want to add it to.

I've got shortcuts to both Contacts and Conversations on my initial desktop - can no longer remember when I put them there.

I'm still discovering stuff after five weeks.
