Searched on this and didn't see an answer.

When I finish a phonecall and go to hang up, the touch screen is invariably off. I have to turn it on with the slide before I can actually touch the screen to hang-up. Several times now calls have persisted for seconds longer than they should have as there isn't an apparently easy way to end the call.

In the environment I work in, that really doesn't work. I can even cope with all the other phone deficiencies and apart from this touchscreen issue I am pleased with the general way the N900 is performing.

This one aspect is driving me nuts though.

I found this confusing at first but I find that a swipe on the screen afterwards wakes the screen up. Does that work for you too?

I also find that when I take the phone out of my pocket to answer a call I often cut people off. PITA.

Someone has written a daemon to help with this issue -- I can't remember what it's called at the moment, but a bit of searching should turn it up..

As for the OP's problem, I can't say that's ever happened for me.. is that because you're using the speakerphone or a headset most often?

Not using a headset at all yet, actually. I make the call, put the phone to my ear, take the phone away from my ear to end it and then have to push the damn slider to wake the screen up so I can press end.

I thought the sensor was supposed to deal with that and realise it wasn't up against your head any longer! :-)

Ok, yeah.. the sensor should definitely deal with that.. The reason I asked is because I don't use a headset either, and I've yet to have had a call where the screen didn't wake up immediately after pulling the phone away from my ear. I wonder if maybe you've got a faulty sensor.

On a related issue, is there a way to re-dial the same number on the phone, rather than entering all the digits again? It would be nice if Nokia improves the telephone aspects of this device as part of the next set of improvements.

I don't have that problem because my N900 gets no cellular signal at all when it's in my pocket...
