I have a dead n900, and I am thinking of tearing it down to provide pictures of the internals. My plan is to take pictures of the main board, both front and back, remove all the components and take front and back pictures again. Does anyone have any requests?

Some closeups of the USB connector (from several angles) would probably be good.

pictures of anything that will explain why the engineers of n900 ran out of space in installing a bigger battery.

I would say the use of metal is one reason for the lack of space. It's built like a tank.

A service manual level 1 to 4 is what you need.
Very detail troubleshoot diagrams.

The service manuals are great, but what I meant is does anyone want pictures of stuff that can only be gotten from destructive testing(as the phone is already dead)? things like circuit boards with the components de-soldered, etc.

This destructive testing is a great idea, and much appreciated. I'm sure we'll learn something from the pictures. What I'd be curious about is whether, in the process of your destructive testing, and photographic diary of it, whether you and others might be able to speculate/determine whether there is any room inside this device for other physical add-ons. I'm thinking particularly about whether there is any logical space to add a compass, for instance. Others may be curious about other potential, as well. Thanks!

as expected, n900 has a width but thin ribbon, its usual in a slider though, good enough, unlike my n97 that the ribbon is exposed..

oh, its like they focus on durability rather than compact-ability.

so...where on those pix is the processor? what i know is its the black chip but....which of those?

would be nice if someone can modify the dead board and resuscitate it with more power
