I just upgraded my 770 to 3.2006.49-2 and now none of the applications in the https://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog2006 would install. I tried to install the Dropbear SSH server and client, the application manager said that I needed the libc6 (>=2.3.5-1) and so on. What is going here?

Any news on this? Other ppl having this problem? I intend to upgrade to *49-2, too, and I'd really like to know if there are any known problems.

Same here. Here I was backing up my stuff in preparation, having skipped the previous update, and here I am stopped cold in my tracks :-)

Did you add the scirocco repositories?
Personally I prefer openSSH

here is my /etc/apt/sources.list

I haven't had any trouble installing apps with 2006.49-2

Dropbear was one of the first I installed after upgrading. I had version 048-0.1 stored on my memory card, and it installed with no complaints.

I also re-installed all my favorite apps from various repositories. I think I only ran into trouble when I tried to install "less." Again, that one was on my memory card and I haven't looked into whether there's a new version out.

Yeah, I upgraded to 3.2006.49-2 on my 770, and I'm also having problems installing apps with the application manager. Frustrating as hell! I also tried using the repositories kindly provided by Mr. Rider, above, with no success. Good grief!! I'm probably going back to the prior version.

Have you tried the "Red pill" mode?

I upgrade one of my 770's to OS 3.2006.49-2 last night and loaded all my favorite software from <https://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog2006>. The built in email client wants to crash alll the time now but I've got a boatload of software loaded that does work. Make sure you're not mistakenly using the OS 2007 wiki!

Peter

;) I have installed my Nokia 770 with latest Nokia OS ( 3.2006.49-2 ) and have seen no problems yet.

I successfully backed-up my files ( bookmarks and such ) to the MMC card and then restored it onto the present ( latest ) OS.

I have installed maemo ' Gaim ' successfully. Initially, I had a little issue with Gaim only ( I used the wrong password ) trying to sign into Yahoo. There was at least one time that I misspelt the repository for ' Gaim '. It is working very well now.

I have installed ' devicescape ' also ( still figuring that out though ). I have also installed ' maemo-bt-plugin ' and ' theme-blue '. So far no issues of anykind were seen during this.

Although I haven't had any application install problems with 3.2006.49-2, I noticed the wifi connection automatically turns itself off after a few seconds after closing the browser window. Not that big of a deal to me as I don't usually need it on after using the browser much anyway, but just wondering if anyone else noticed this happening to them as well.

All in all, the connection time is a bit faster than before, and page rendering and scrolling is much faster and smoother from what I can tell.

Oh, and I might be imagining things, but it seems like boot time is a bit faster also.

Have you started the browser while not having any wifi connection? If yes, then the browser auto connects to wifi (if the device is not in flight-mode), and when you close the browser, it disconnects again. If you connect to wifi before starting the browser, it will not disconnect.

IMHO this is a quite reasonable behavior and saves me some clicks when I want to surf for a few minutes and then continue to use the device offline.

Ah, that makes sense. Did it do that in the previous version? I don't quite recall. Anyway I just wanted a second or third chime in on the issue before I started a bug report on it. Thanks pycage (sorry, had Texrat there before), you da man.

- Of course Texrat is quite helpful most of the time also. :D

=DC=, this is the default behavior in previous version; if it's there leave it, otherwise, connect, use, close.

But it's good to hear performance has improved; I assume you're sober, right? :D

Well, I don't drink or do any drugs (legal or otherwise), so I'd say that's a good sign of sobriety. :D

Yes, I installed the new OS last weekend. I re-installed all my applications from scratch from the repositories with Application Manager (except OpenSSH which installs with apt-get which still uses the repositories).

Can anyone tell me how I downgrade to previous version having upgraded to 3.2006.49-2

On Maemo site (download/upgrade section, I can't remember), by providing your product ID (WLAN ID found under the battery), you can download the earlier versions. The process of changing firmware is the same.

that did the job. Have downgraded as I could not get gnumeric to work on latest version.

Has anyone been able to install and use gnumeric under 3.2006.49-2 on a 770? This is not a request for a poll: one positive post will do.

Thanks,

Yes, here with ITOS 3.2006.49-2 and using Gnumeric 1.7.0

Salut.
Sebas.

PD: just a hint; maybe you cannot install it because you've run out of internal memory (it needs circa 30MB)

Can you confirm what repos you have in your application manager.
the message I got was that it was not compatable with the os version.

Hi. Right now, I'm replying this post using minimo browser. It obviously works, because I've been able to post this answer. But it's rather slow, and gets weird too often. For example, it crashes when trying to get larger font sizes. So that I'm writing this in its original size, and can hardly see. But it truly works, more or less ... :(

Instead, this time I'm using native browser. It works pretty fine. I may enlarge font size without crashing :) , which is exactly what should obviously always be... Anyway it doesn't crash so much (it's my experience). I think that native browser as been pretty enhanced in this version 3.2006.49-2.

I have encounted problem that Application Manager can not install any application, but it works now.

I fixed this by replacing file /var/lib/dpkg/status with file /var/lib/dpkg/status-old

Hope it helps.
