How to control N900 via DTMF remotely ?
What I mean is calling N900 as PBX and sending a series
of DTMF codes to control menu, applications, enter text
and all remotely.
Very simplified DTMF-based VNC.
Any idea, solution ?

Wow, you ask something complex here :P
I dont know if someone already has implemented a dtmf solution for maemo.
But there are some desktop widgets that "record" the call in several audio formats, so there is a piece of code from where you can take an example of phone call input.
then you can use your dtmf library to interpret commands.
And from there... what commands can be programmed, there are limitless posibilities (because there are countless apis per device).
you just need imagination (and deveolper hours)

what is easy is not complex
dtmf decoder comes with every phone
what I need is to call n900 and get n900 to decode
dtmf codes in connected mode
invoking a script matching keyboard inputs (dtmf codes)
with some actions, like WII remote control for PC.
Youtube is full of such solutions.
I just need one working with n900 (Linux / Debian based)
In standard PC dtmf application,
telephone's voice channel can be connected to a sound card,
but a phone by itself can decode any dtmf sequence.
Just go to Youtube and enter "dtmf remote control".
Well its trivial to record phone calls. And probably trivial to decode DTMF codes. On the other hand, I've never heard of a way to extract DTMF codes directly.
Anyways you can install asterisk, though honestly I'm know nothing about it.
Though why don't you just SSH into your N900? It's not 1993, you don't need to communicate with a computer remotely via touch tone. :)

I just need dtmf remote controller for n900
as it works dial-up via mobile network to sim card
not via IP.
Just have a look at dtmf solutions from youtube

you are right, technology is not new, but it worked for me right now.
Just tested dtmf decoder for MS Vista, reading dtmf codes from wav file.
What i need is no-GUI linux app for n900 to run it from a shell script
and invoke some action (call another script selected on a code coming as dtmf).
Look WII remote control for Vista.
more from sourceforge
I'm trying to do this too. I've been doing some testing and there is no message sent on dbus when receiving a dtmf tone, so I'm assuming one would have to tap into the audio stream and write one. Any thoughts on how to do that?
