Sine220 kind of and Personal Doc's.
i am guessing it will be easy to make a app for this if someone knows what they are doing.
I am sure there is allot of people out there that would love this app. sins you can hold 32GB of stuff and personal information

If you create a folder, put your pictures inside it and then rename the folder to make the folder name start with a dot you will not be able to see it!
i.e.
.mypics

Have you try to look for application that can do this ? (I don't have my N900 right now)
I would like to point out that, beside locking the pictures folder, this is not a bad idea to be able to restrain users from accessing some folder on your phone. Right now, the only possibility is to lock the device completely.

There is truecrypt (or easycrypt?) for maemo I believe, may solve your problem.
Edit. Actually it looks like it's only available for OS2008?

Also will this stop the image viewer seeing the pics. i have personnel pics on my phone memory card. if you open up the image viewer it looks at every pic including the personnel stuff
