Hello All,

Anyone tried this out on the Maemo platform?

http://richard.jones.name/google-hacks/gmail-filesystem/gmail-filesystem.html

I am keen to have an extra 2gb of secure storage which is accessable anytime I have web connectivity from my n800... What about you guys?

This would be the perfect place to store my back up data along with nonessiental data (such as images and videos)

I am new to Linux and no developer but it seems that all of the companents are in place (or in dev: Fuse?), can anyone comment further?

It would be great to hear the view of people with Linux and
Maemo experiance on GmailFS.

Hi! I'm the author of the fuse port to maemo, it was working fine in IT2006 but i'm having some troubles (kernel module compilation) with bora (IT2007, N800).. i'll try to fix it as soon as i have some time but i'm also playing with opensync/gpe right now so.. i don't have much time after work! But i tested gmailfs on IT2006 some time ago and it was working fine! stay tuned for updates.. and if you(or someone) want to help.. sources, patches and istructions are on garage!

Thanks for the update sKaBoy. I would love to see a GUI for this along with the ability to choose GmailFS as a storage location.

Please keep us posted.

I'm just wondering if this works on the n810. (I haven't tried it yet.)

Im bumping this.

The original version is descontinued because the backend (libgmail) is discontinued

but someone is moving the backend to imap, his version is here: http://sr71.net/projects/gmailfs/

its python-based

when i try to run it in my "pr 1.1.1 extras-testing n900" i get:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "gmailfs.py", line 63, in <module>
import fuse
ImportError: No module named fuse

So, python-fuse binding needs porting

Here we goooooooo...

Somebody in the mood to do this?

Googles 7GB sound somewhat more promising than Dropbox's 2GB.
