Hi,
I wrote a bootscreen manager last weekend in a few hours, to tell you the truth was more like a joke/fun app, but seems there's a lot of users interested.
The current UI is very simple and basic, but some users are having troubles understanding it, yes I can do a better job, but I need some designers help, because I'm zero at graphics :D
Here is the current app aspect:

What I need, apart from your suggestions:
- App icon;
- Small icon for each item in the list, representation a video file;
- Something like a check icon, similar to the green check in the Internet connection manager when you're connected to a network

I can make you icons for app if you want. I will make small icons for both of my videos (26x26?). Check out this:

VDVsx is it possible to re-use icons from the OS? For example where you mention the green check used in the connection manager can this be found and used? The un-compiled source for these things should be available?

I meant a generic icon for the video files, not a different one for each video. Perhaps video thumbnails can be used, but that's out of scope at least for now.
Make them a bit bigger than 26x26 (or use SVG), that way I can resize and play with them :)

I remember doing something long long time ago for this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=349623&postcount=9 To the right of the screenshot.. Its not very pretty.. I tried shaping it up now here:
what you think?
I have not added any thing special fx-thingy here like gloss and such..

Yes, should be, I searched a bit, but cannot find that icon, if someone knows where it is, I appreciate :)

That's exactly what I've in mind, but of course I'm open to more suggestions from the UX experts ;)

I like that one above here with the standard media symbol.
I did a simpler one here just before I saw that post.
Added som gloss and changed color.

Only in Extras-devel, since it uses Qt 4.6. It's a control panel applet now.

Did you add & select the video in the bootscreen app ?
yes. i have . it works great know . but my phone seem to reboot all the time . so i deleted the app but my boot screen keep coming up.. what can i do to take this off. I always hate that you remove a app and there is always something lingering .. Maybe this is another thread but how can you really delete a app from you phone ..??

The app doesn't runs anything in background and only modifies one file that is harmless for the system, so your problem is somewhere else, I guess.
If you want to remove the bootscreen video completely, edit the config file or install BootScreen again and de-select the video. BootScreen doesn't remove the Nokia hands movie, nor the system config files, so that's the expect behavior, nothing lingering from the app itself.
