There are few other threads on this; sorry I don't have the links handy. At least one person says it can work if you disable script cheking on reboot, but that did not work for me. Best bet is to go with a 32-bit machine. It will save you headaches and time and possibly sending your device to Nokia.

Would an emulation work? Like VMWare or Virtual PC if the USB is mounted through?

Just install ubuntu as a partition. It made things so much easier once you realize that you can pretty much do anything u need to your N900 on ubuntu.
Virtual machines work fine, the easiest way for a home user to run flasher on 64bit win7 will just be to install + enable XP mode.
Essentially, download vpc + xp mode, boot it, install flasher, plug the n900 in with u pressed, wait for the host win7 machine to pick it up, select usb devices in the vpc instance > tick "Nokia N900 (Recovery Mode)" (or something similar) > phone gets picked up by the guest xp instance > flasher works fine.
ktchiu: No.
nidO: Thanks. Already have it set up, for this kind of issues. Good to know I don't NEED the live CD. Plus, I'm a bit of an uptime nut.

I was not able to flash using Win7 home prem 64bit. Since I'm running the home version, XP mode AKA VPC XP is not available. I did try my Ubuntu VM, but had issues with the USB connection occurring at the right time.
What did work perfectly on my Win7 64bit laptop was booting via a Ubuntu live USB boot thumb drive. I had the flasher util and the bin files on a second USB drive and it worked as documented.
