But it says that is running on a qt UI. Can it be some sort of a first attempt?

He said at the end when Mobilin 2.1 moves to Meego it will get even more interesting. That is not Meego.

maybe they are already advertising it as meego to boost sales and the next firmware update will be full meego?

Mobilin UI is very different, and it’s not based on qt.
You can see it here:

These threads are kind of pointless anyway, Until we see a device start up with a meego logo on it we can't be sure. Don't forget we have also seen flash 10.1 demoed on the n900 months ago and we don't have that yet either.

No, this is not the MeeGo UX reference UI for handsets.

But if it's true that all that is based on pure Qt it means that once MeeGo is released they will be far off the way of having their own UI ready for that MeeGo based device.

This is one of the beauties of MeeGo: it doesn't force vendors to have a single UI. As lond as they keep the MeeGo API allowing any MeeGo compliant application running in their system, they are fine.

Actually the guy in the video is accurate in the descriptions: that is Moblin 2.1 + Qt based UI developed by Ixonos. Good to know that there starts to be companies targeting MeeGo assuming the Qt baseline that is already public and stable (Qt 4.6)

You might also be interested in RdUX: Moblin Core 2.0, Qt 4.6, Qt Quick/QML, multitouch/gestures and HW accelerated graphics. Everything is based on Qt and Moblin so basically this is "a MeeGo device" in the future.
