I worked on this for quite a while and it seems to be almost perfect now. Let me present you the Array Theme, a clean and stylish grey/black theme that will make you N900 look great. Currently in extras-testing, test and vote/comment here (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/array-theme/0.8/) if it works fine/doesn't work correctly.

I really like this theme. I've been using the default Nokia theme until now. Thank you. Will report any bugs if i find any.

Thanks for releasing the final version of this theme. Looks great!
BTW, I think this wallpaper goes very well with this theme.

A few low-priority comments:

The Dashboard/Launcher button in the upper-left is slightly off-center.
The dark green font is a little hard to read on the grey background. Maybe a slightly lighter shade (perhaps #00A305?), but definitely not bright green.

No actual bugs encountered yet.

nice, but looks like default theme to me?

Haha, you got to be kidding me. I drew the whole theme from scratch so it's not even based on the stock theme...

And how can you say that, for example, the close and task switcher buttons look like the stock theme?

The Dashboard/Launcher button in the upper-left is slightly off-center.

The dark green font is a little hard to read on the grey background. Maybe a slightly lighter shade (perhaps #00A305?), but definitely not bright green.

I can't see anything incorrect in the positioning of the task switcher button myself, so care to elaborate?

Sure, will fix the green color, thanks for reporting it!

How do u get the Brightness bar onto the status menu??

Simple Brightness Applet from Extras.

awesome job man!

I wouldn't mind having a little more transparency though, even if it's just a bit. Plenty of third party widgets are transparent without configuration. Still, solid theme and plenty better than the default.

Great theme! I'd also like to still see widget transparency, which is one of the main reasons I use the stock Nseries theme.

I actually really like the non-transparent widget / icons. =P
That's one of the uniqueness of Joppu's current themes.

btw, I'm using the Contour theme right now. Love it.

I personally don't like the widget transparency at all, but I might change it on the future. I'll just have to experiment with 80% opacity or something...

I don't like it much either but some widgets are unconfigurable and it unsettles the desktop :P

Having the option would be sweet until the other widgets get fixed up.

P.S. have you thought about changing the new msg notifications to be transparent? I think that looks cool, you've left the volume bar and system notif's transparent?

Just a thought, I still love it though :P

The notification banner is hard coded to be transparent, so no can do. I'll certainly try out using transparency for the widgets and message notifications in the next version.

Awesome. Mainly just the larger widgets, like calendar and such - but regardless, your themes and work are greatly appreciated!

The "in-laid" button is slightly off-center to the full button. Not sure if you were intending for this effect.

Nice work though!

Two little things I think would make this better (not sure if these are things you can change)

1. The text in the dialog box when saving files is black on black. It's really hard to see on the phone.

2. When selecting items to delete, for example, the selected items don't really look that different compared to the non-selected ones. The black background used to distinguish them isn't that noticeable.

The screen shots don't make it seem as bad as it is but you have to remember some people use the phone on the lowest brightness setting.

Another thing that might make it better... When you get a new alert the __ icon in the top left flashes and stops flashing after 2 or 3 times. This is very hard to see. Can the __ icon flash in blue or another easily seen color? The reason it's hard to see is because it uses the same white icon when you don't have any new alerts.

i also really like this theme. but here my suggessions:

- Onscreen keyboard point, comma button. (Dark grey on dark grey)
- List highlight is hard to see
- pressed graphic for red close and task manager has on the side facing the title a sperator line.
- Processbar which text in it (application install dialog) is hard to read. (Black text with dark grey processbar )

joppu

Thanks for all the feedback

- Onscreen keyboard point, comma button. (Dark grey on dark grey)

Probably won't fix since can brake some other coloring.

- List highlight is hard to see

Already working on it.

- pressed graphic for red close and task manager has on the side facing the title a sperator line.

This probably is unfixable without braking some other stuff, but I can look into it.

Processbar which text in it (application install dialog) is hard to read. (Black text with dark grey processbar )

Too hard to fix without braking other stuff. Doesn't really matter anyway since you can see the white part clearly, and you probably know what the progress bar is doing in the first place.

It's a bug with hildon-theme-cacher or something like that. Happens with every theme.

Edit `/etc/event.d/hildon-control-panel-personalisation` and change "start on started xomap" to "start on MOUNTS_OK" and it shall stop. It's a filed bug.

It did look great but it also caused problems I really don't want to bother start debugging.

What problems did transparency cause?

RSS widged had some strange issues with coloring.

Firstly, great theme! One issue I have with it, is when you press on a text, it goes bright green. Is there a way to change that colour?

It's no big deal as it's only that colour for less than a second when you are pressing the text.

Also, would it be possible to make a blue version, where the text is the same blue as the original maemo theme? I like that blue colour!

Press on text where? I can't reproduce this issue.

Perhaps, perhaps version with blue, but I really don't want to flood the repos with the same theme in every imaginable color value ;)

where where you going to use transparency?

Desktop widgets mainly.

In conversations, go into a conversation with someone, then hold down on a text, it highlights in bright green, which doesn't fit into the theme too well.

Just have a Green and Blue version :P The blue version will match the flashing blue light then :)

To me the green in this theme "comes as a bit of a surprise". Somehow it doesn't quite fit the very calm (hillitty) nature of this theme. I think when comparing to having everything that's green now in a "modest" navy blue could work really well.

In addition to this, I'd like to see the "X" and "minimize" buttons match the height of the bar they are attached to. Now they just look a little out of place. Just to clarify, I'm talking about the top bar's buttons clearly visible over the terminal here:

This went straight to my everyday theme, though. I think it's great. Thanks for this!

No I didn't mean any of the text in the terminal or anything to do with the terminal at all, I meant the red X button top right of the screen and the "minimize" button top left. So above the terminal.

The positioning of the close and task switcher button is intentional and I have no plans changing that. I'll think about the green issue.

What I don't like of your theme are the keys of the virtual keyboards, missing shadow effects to reproduce tridimensionality. The keys looks (almost) flat. This is the unique thing I don't like.
As to the rest is quite an elegant theme.

Does the theme really need drop shadows behind the VKB buttons? I really tried to maintain the consistent look throughout the theme. So putting shadow effects there is definitely a no can do.

I love this theme, so crisp and classy thank you

the only thing I'm not keen on is when you need to select or delete something such as an email it dosent change colour so you dont know if its actually selected or not, hope you know what I mean. Someone else explained it and may make more sense:

2. When selecting items to delete, for example, the selected items don't really look that different compared to the non-selected ones. The black background used to distinguish them isn't that noticeable

I really love this theme. I like the minimalism and the colors and especially the icon sizes :)

Nothing too colorful and that's the way I like it :)

Just a small request. Do you have possibly the .psd files (or on which type of file you made them) so that I could tweak them to my own liking a lil more (Would like to try it with thememaker)? Would be really helpful to have them as starting from scratch is a lil complicated. I really don't know where to change what on the files supplied by Thememaker :/

Thanks man for the theme and hopefully your exams were successful :)

Cheers,

mikki-kun
