I got a replacement about 2weeks ago and have been experiencing it charging a bit different to what it used to. Also when it arrived the keyboard had the bulging/loose bit and the keyboard sort of 'slides around' slightly. Luckily sliding it down pops the keyboard bit into place. Maybe this is some kind of 'new feature' that nokia have dreamt up.
Anyway, reading this thread, does anyone else have a suspicion that nokia repair centre may be just sending people each others broken phones?
No one ever seems to reply to any of the nokia emails. Does anyone know of an email that someone from nokia might actually reply to? It's not worth sending in another repair request if they wont fix it, and I will be without my n900 for who knows how long, and it might not even come back fixed.

I know for a fact that this happens. I sent mine back with a faulty touch screen and when I received it back, all they had done was flashed it and sent it back. They could not have checked that it worked, because it didn't. Same problem still there. So I sent it back with a note. The replacement I received was definately someone elses prior, because there were slight scratches which I was not happy about, because the one I sent them was perfect. When I went and turned the device on, it said "sim card registration failed" iirc. So I got on the phone to technical, and the guy said the handset could have previousley been a lost or stolen one! I went mad. Anyway, after three of other peoples problem handsets, I got a new one after creating a big fuss. Not impressed with the way Nokia fob people off. This new handset I have now has been fine for months now.

so it might be worth making a fuss then. I must have got one that had the keyboard 'fixed'. Someone may get my old one, with the usb charging port fixed. The replacement I got was also global firmware instead of uk.Do you happen to have any good contacts for nokia bigears?

No, I don't sorry. The only person from Nokia that I have spoken too was a technical support guy on the end of the phone, who, to be honest, didn't sound like he knew much. My emails to Nokia rarely got replied to, and when they did, they seemed to be a pre-scripted letter. I found it hard to even get hold of Nokia, let alone getting a satisfactory response. Anyone else had any luck? Sorry I can't help much more than sharing my experiences.

Well I telephoned Orange and they said it had to go to Nokia. Contacted Nokia and replacement phone came out. Quick response and a phone that worked perfectly until it had a trip around the washing machine. Anyway called Orange and they did me a replacement for £70, bargin I thought until they charged me £200 because the phone I sent back wasn't an Orange branded phone. I then have to prove that Nokia replaced it before they will accept the phone back. Thankfully Nokia has done this but atm Orange hasn't got the paperwork and can't bounce the £200 until next bill so I have had to cancel the direct debit etc. So if Nokia replace your phone make sure the network provider are aware!!!!
