RSS or Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication is a way to disseminate information. Since this comes from various Internet Sites, my question to you will be are you on the Internet when you try to refresh the RSS threads ? This is to say that are you connected to a proper unsecured Access Point when you try to refresh RSS Feeds ? Perhaps you need to be on the Internet when you do this. :)

Normally, I do not care about RSS Feeder ( on my Nokia 770 ). So, I have disabled it. But in order to test it ( just now ) , I Bluetoothed into my Nokia 6682 Phone, and once connected to the Internet, I enabled the RSS Feeder and then refreshed it. I was able to see the latest Feeds. :)

There are two possible reasons:
Opening a feed causes its posts to be removed unless you tick "save for later"
The RSS reader is broken with auto-update turned on. See #953 (https://maemo.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=953).

Make sure you add a vote to bug 953, and in the short term disable auto-update in the RSS Feed Reader settings.

Sometimes it takes a few seconds to get going, I've not seen it "not try" though - always does something for me.

This sounds like the same problem I was having: see http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4911
I don't know what causes it (I don't quite understand bug #953 but it sounds like something different). However, I suggest that you back up your list of feeds, so at least you can restore them if it happens again. As mzandrew points out in the thread mentioned above, this can be done using the backup utility.
Good luck,
Art

Bug #953 is this: If you leave the RSS auto-update feature enabled, the RSS app will delete existing RSS articles whenever new RSS articles appear in each feed.
So, if you add a new feed which contains 30 articles you'll see all 30 articles the fist time the feed is loaded. Then, later on when the auto-update kicks in (either, 30 minutes, 60 minutes etc according to your proference) if the feed now contains 32 articles the existing 30 articles will be deleted and the two new articles will be added leaving your RSS app showing only TWO articles.
If the auto-update kicks in again and there are now 34 articles, the two articles will be deleted and the two new articles added - even if you haven't read the two articles donwloaded by the first auto-update!
Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Thanks for the clear explanation; I found the Bugzilla report hard to interpret. I think it's clear that my problem (and I think screener's as well) is different. Not only were there no articles in the reader but it said that I had subscribed to 0 feeds and that they had never been refreshed, so presumably it wasn't just a case of "old" articles being deleted, with no new ones to replace them. Also, I'd marked one article as "Keep for later", so that shouldn't have been deleted anyway.

Yes, that does sound like a different issue you've got there. Such a simple app, yet it has so many silly/annoying problems... :(

I actually experienced the same issue last week, all of my feeds vanished. The only one i don't know how to configure back is the one for the n800 (nokia) updates. caN someone post the url? thx A lot

Yeah, all mine vanished as well, so coupled with #953, I don't use the RSS Reader anymore.
I've no idea what triggered the bug, so raising one which says "all my feeds disappeared, but I don't know when" isn't going to be particularly helpful :-(

I don't know, it's still better than nothing - someone else may chime in with more details, or better still Nokia will chime in and say "Cross referenced with NB90382, already found and fixed". Yeah I know the latter is in the realm of fantasy but hey... ;)
