I personally feel your car tells alot about you. if you drive some vanilla appliance-mobile (a stock toyota corolla, or chevy malibu) then you don't see cars as anything too special, if you drive a fixed up old car you obviously like to be different; if you drive a lifted truck you obviously like to feel above the rest (not in a bad way)
so let me start this thing....

Love taking summer picnics at the Helsinki archipelago, which is possible with these things.

And once the Espoo-Helsinki subway extension reaches my neighbourhood in few years, I'm gonna mostly travel by Metro (altough IIRC they will fully automated by that time, and there will be nobody driving at all).

When I lived in Downtown Fargo (which would flood about two feet deep if the dikes broke) I thought about putting my car up on blocks so the water wouldn't destroy it.

My A6 4.2 has 300HP and 170MPH, what does your A8 4.2 have? I've never driven an A8.
The A8 is rated at 330hp, but governed at around 135mph. I have had it up around 130mph and it was still pulling strong. My wife drives an '02 A6 Avant with the 3.2L 6-cylinder. No one will accuse that car of being too fast.

Depending on the season, the weather, the neighborhood, the cargo, and the distance, one of these:
8823
8824
8825
I get the most awesome mileage and never get parking tickets. ;)
Edit: Top one cost me $120, middle one $25+new chain, and bottom one about $900 counting all the parts for the custom modifications.
About 1/3 horsepower; depending on who you ask, it might be the rear 1/3...

330HP sounds great! I forgot about the engine governor....I guess the 170MPH on the dash is just for show.
My wife wanted an AllRoad with electronic height adjustment suspension.....I was like "Seriously, like you are ever going to use that!" She opted for a classic 1998 BMW 528i.....
Hmmmm, I can't attach pictures anymore, the attachment button is missing....

nope. millionaire or oil refinery. there is no other way one can drive those. engines are thirstier than 570cid V8's. I've heard about the same story from every Saab 900 driver I've known.

Wow, thats a horrible taste in your mouth! No way!
I've gone on a long road trip with the 86 900 SPG and the 96 9000 Aero. True to their advertised mileage, they were/are very efficient. I have to do some story telling now...
86 900 SPG (acronym for the top model variant) has a 2.0 turbo engine that made 170hp and ~195 ft. lb. (264.38 Nm) of torque, when it was new in '86 :P Those are pretty decent performance numbers, especially back in its day.
I drove the 86 900 SPG about 2,500 miles (4,000 km) two summers ago, down the west coast (all main freeway) of USA, a week of city driving in southern california, then a drive up the west coast (scenic coastal freeway), probably averaged 75 mph, with A/C on... total calculated mileage was 30.2 MPG ( 7.79 L/100km) To be fair though, this specific car 'only' has 160,000 miles on it.
96 9000 Aero (top model variant) has a 2.3 turbo engine that made 225hp, and 258 ft lb (350 Nm) of torque, when it was new and stock in '96 :P. Again, decent power. It makes more than that when I drove it for a long drive last summer. I think the total mileage was 1,800 miles (2900 km) on the road trip. Average cruising speed was ~80 mph. There was a week of driving around Colorado (large elevation changes, 0 to 10,000 feet elevation). At the end of the trip, average fuel consumption was at somewhere between 31mpg and 32mpg (7.47 L/100km).
These mileage numbers are considered quite impressive in the USA auto market and for the power these engines make, especially for 'old technology, inefficient designs' or whatever people are supposed to believe here...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/29629961@N03/3853032930/
(cruising on flat-ish freeway a few hours after a gas station, thats why the display says 33.3 mpg, although it turned out to be pretty close to my manual calculations throughout the trip)
Sorry to those who don't care about long stories of fuel consumption.
I couldn't let a neighbor of Sweden think such poor things about the classic SAAB 900 :)

the point is probably the mileage. at least after 300 000km saab 900 with smallest engine takes about 12-15L/100km for what I've heard.
But keep in mind that here in Finland we drive on average with such cars that are already been wrecked and remade into new cars probably twice in middle europe ;)

if you can afford to blow $600+ on a cellphone, you probably are not working at McDs
Not all of us have the luxury of living in a city that has public transportation.
I bought both when I was in Atlanta, I was driving on a weekends to Charlotte and it was fantastic. Amazing roads and a great race track to boot.
I spent a lot of money on the Z. But then had to move to Denver last year.
300ZX is in the garage for the entire winter, since I'm in downtown, very hard to drive both with 30-35 speed limits and lights every 100 yards.
I really wish I had a big SUV. Anyways love my babies so..

That Z is hot! I had an Rx-8 but I sold it now.. Now I drive an Acura RDX and a Saab 97x... Both nice for the winter (Michigan gets lots of snow :( )

I used to drive an Audi A6 pre-umemployment. I prefer German cars BMW was my preference, but I was lucky to afford the Audi at the time. Notice the damaged front left bumper? If you have an Audi of this generation, you know my pain from that low hanging valance.
Post-umemployment/recession, I've sold the audi and now get around with, as Run DMC would say, MY...UH...DEE-duhz! Also of German origin and much more efficient, though with much less enjoyment. Looking for a job so I can return to my German wheeling ways. Sick of scrub status living in the largest US city without public transportation....

This is my baby girl. I love it because it is fast and economic:

I had considered lowering it once..but I don't know if you can tell by the picture..lowering a car with the streets here would be suicide.
Are the roads still that bad!! Remember being on one of the buses in Malta and it being an experience!!!!

Some roads have been improved..while others are like driving on the moon. Yeah the buses can really be painful on certain roads. I used to ride one not too long ago. 18 is the legal age for driving and I'm 20. What I did do was make the suspensions stiffer. This way I feel less the bumps.
I really wish they would allocate funds better and maybe one day we will have most roads acceptable.

On the inside there is a vga touchscreen in which I hope to run MeeGo on when it comes out
Me too. There seems to be an IVI UX planned, I've got an app in the works. Can't wait for the next MeeGo release.
I was looking for a small SUV for when you need to move a piece of furniture or something. However, the Toyotas and Hondas were too expensive. Someone told me about the PT Cruiser and at first I didn't think it was what I wanted. However, a search on consumer reports revealed excellent reliability and good owner satisfaction rates. Then I found an excellent deal for this barely used black beauty and I have bee cruising ever since. ;)

This is what I "drive". I haven't had a car in over a year now and I have no regrets. You just need to live close to work and have the proper cold weather/rain gear.

Forget the pimpery, it's way more comfortable than the Accord in the front row while being a full meter shorter. Looks are just a collateral benefit.

Had my smart car for 2 years nows - great car and cheap to run.
Wow.. Figured I was the only one here with a smart. :p Had mine just over 2 years now and have been loving it. (Especially the convertible top the past few days, since it's been warm again! :)

Sometimes wish i`d brought the cabrio, but hadn`t driven for 6 years when brought it and test drove the cheapest one the dealer had and loved it straight away.
Been everywhere in it, get a few funny looks when our dog sits in the boot - but he loves it.
As and when have to replace it, it will be a cdi next time.

- coilovers (in the picture it's still in winter "settings")
- horsepower chipped up from 100hp > 150hp
