[Request] Maemo "Purple Ice" Theme

Hello everybody.

One of the things that really sucked me into getting myself a N900 was the promo videos that came out a few months before release.

I'm talking about these:

Also Nokia's Maemo site is just (graphically) kick-***:

What I've really been wanting is a theme that really captures what these videos and the graphical site is about.

Now as the survey (http://maemo.nokia.com/survey/) started at Nokia's Maemo site, I realised that parts of that survey really looked like buttons out of this dream-theme I've always wanted for the N900. And that cool, glowing white text that's just HUGE is just so bold and stylish, I love it.

Now yes I know, some of that imagery is probably not exactly out there for free grabs, but would anyone be interested in carrying out this incredible vision there is in the N900 promotional material into a full-fledged Maemo5 theme?

I want my phone to rock out, not look tame or bling.

Anyone up for the challenge?

Yeah, well the buttons, icons, slider and menu bars aren't really doing it for me... I think the purple should only appear in the background image and then only as a nuance. For example (white) text would blink purple when pressed.

Well I was kind of hoping that you would pick this thread up :) What do you think about using the exact images from Nokia's website? Is it infringing copyrights or something? E.g., will there be trouble?

I will shoot qgil an email about it, as far as my maemo.org theme I've not had any troubles with it. I am not sure if Nokia it self will have a problem. I'm going to recreate the buttons in svg format but it would be nice to reuse the site header for background.

Also links and such seem to be a light blue is that the color you are wanting for highlights and other text or you want purple for them? BTW you can always just shoot me an email if you have a theme like this you want done. I don't feel appreciated for my work sometimes and its also nice to see post like the one you made about hoping I would pick it up.

Yes I believe this would naturally be the centre-piece of this theme. I'm glad we agree.

Yes, good point. They are a light blue, aren't they. I think the highlight colour in text should also be light blue then.

Okay now I know I'm risking sounding like a complete newbie requesting this and that and all that jazz for this theme, but have you guys had a look at this:

I would just love to have some very discrete "particles" or something very slowly flowing accross the background image in this theme-to-be.

Similarly to the "particles" seen on the SGTU site: http://www.theskepticsguide.org/

Just less speed, colour could be white, particles not that big and the particles would move to a certain point and vanish and another particle would set off from the original position.

The live wallpaper is really a widget that covers entire wallpaper. would have to work with developer of it to see if it can be done.

Okay I'm currently running this theme (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=42036) (DarkSky by lacedaemon) with this background:

My phone is looking really great and I think that should all the blue(/turquoise?) buttons etc. be turned white, this theme would be set. Maybe add a little purple effects here and there to work better with the background.

Even the media player's effect is somewhat constant with the background in the previous screens:

My suggestions for implementing the 'white blur' that's typical for the look I'd like to see, could be done by adding the blur to all the buttons. For a reference of the 'white fog' see the first post's "N900 Survey" text image.

To get some purple into the theme, I think all that needs to be don is changing the text (turquoise/blue in screenie) to a rather dark purple. The separator lines can be left as is, or boosted by a lighter gray/white:
