what about an application that hide and archive SMS messages based on a configured list of numbers and/or contacts. with options to disable the default sms notification and create a custome notification (a pop up message and/or sound) with password access to the archive...

foh sure i've seen quite a few people wanting some privacy on there messages including me. lets make it happen, and by lets i mean someone else :P

Well i would have done it if i could..just trying to share an idea of an application that i saw of great benefit for hiding private and confidential communications on your device. The N900 is a really powerful mobile/tablet, and you could find that your're sharing your device at work easily with your colleagues which puts you in a position where you need to protect your privacy even temporarily.

There is a thread about per-app access passwords already and it can be only said again that it does not create *any* protection. The data is still accessible and unencrypted on the system.
If you don't want people to use your phone, use a system-wide lock code.
