Last month Ari stated a new/improved version of the IT2007 software will (hopefully) be availabe in a couple of weeks.....well it's been almost a month and I've heard nothing. I was wondering if anyone had any more info or an expected eta. Thanks.

I hope it's here close to the end of this month...

To be fair, Ari (on 13 Feb) said "a few weeks" which is a lot different from "a couple of weeks".

"a couple of weeks" suggests 2 weeks while "a few weeks" could mean any number of weeks within the immediate future (ie. between 4 and 8 weeks).

A March or April release would be my bet.

FEW FEW?

FEW Defined:
Being more than one but indefinitely small in number

indefinetly small, thats not good. Few could be the same as a couple, but it could also be many many more.

So few could be between 2-XX, depends on what you think is small. 30 is small if counting to 1000?

OK, I was bored, back to work!!

Last Barcelona - Madrid match there were only a FEW spectators. Appx. 80.000 i think.

FEW is VERY relative...:D

I am just as bored today so I have to add...

Yes, a few is more than a couple. However it is less than a couple of the next deliniation. In this case months.

Ergo- A few weeks is more than a couple of weeks but less than a couple of months... :D

Don't you know the rules for these predictions? Double the number, and use the next larger unit of measure. Two weeks becomes four months. Such is the pace of product development. ;)

I'm ready for the official update. My N800 has been acting up and I would love to flash some new hotness on it. Come on Nokia send it over

Does anybody have proof that Nokia is reading this? I mean someone that is involved in the n800 software development, not the Nokia search engine robot.

Pull up Tableteer. Do a little reading. There's some proof. ;)

Plus the fact that at least one Nokia employee posts here...

If I remember correctly, Nokia used to post the latest OS builds for the 770 on maemo.org, so you can try the betas at your own risk. Did Nokia stop doing this recently for 770 and N800?

Alive would be better, we need some information first!

OK OK, just kidding ;)

It will be here when it's here. I'll wait patiently
But, what I'm really interested to know is will it give support for A2DP?
I really need these http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=177 to work with the N800!

Same here! I have heard that it's possible via software update, not upgrading hardware. Think Nokia N91 GB, hi-fi nseries bluetooth and wi-fi but not a2dp UNTIL N91i 8 GB, only difference bigger harddisk!

I can virtually guarantee it won't. According to what I've heard on mailing lists BT headset support (SCO) is a much more prominent need since it goes hand-in-hand with VOIP (And it may not make it into this coming release either). A2DP is a completely different animal and requires a fair amount of hacking with ALSA and BlueZ to function. Just hearsay, but that's the word.

That's just dumb...
This thing has the potential to be a dang good media server either in the car or in the living room... That is until you are forced to pump your media through that noisy mini plug... on top of the small contact surface, there is a Mic feed running right along side of the stereo out...

An A2DP dongle will cut the noise in half and move the signal away from the Mic in.

I need a gee whiz app for this thing.

the flash lagging is still the same in this firmware, I had it before I had to reflash to -6

DCr33P

I never reflashed my N800 and now I am booting from SD card. How to flash my System on SD card and not the one on internal memory? Flasher-3.0(Linux) has some options like that:

--initfs, -n <arg> Location of initfs image

Is the <arg> parameter my device, like /dev/mmcblk* ?
If so, can I just use /dev/mmcblk0p2 (internal SD card) as target?

EDIT: damn, that's just the image location... have no idea

I thought, this thread would be running crazy with that announcement...where are you, guys? :D

SDHC support did *NOT* make it - SDHC cards cannot be accessed with this firmware. :(

Milhouse

Flash video performance is improved, but still isn't full framerate, perhaps now one-third to a half of what it should be (much better than the 1 or 2fps though).

Videos played through the media player look _very_ good, haven't established if any new formats (DivX) are supported though, I'd copied my files on to SDHC cards...

Milhouse, this might be an obvious question -- but will ask anyway. This update does not preserve previous installs, does it? In other words, is re-installation of installed programs required? Thanks. Thor.

Milhouse
03-23-2007, 11:06 AM
Yes, reinstallation is required. Backup any data you want to keep (there's a backup/restore function for bookmarks etc.). Reflashing with a new image essentially resets your device back to it's factory default.

Looks like there is now also an official camera application for download once you refresh the apps catalog.

alvindd - anwered in this (http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=40556#post40556) thread where 3.2007.10-7 is being discussed. SDHC support status has already been clarified in this thread.
