UPS delivered my N800 a few hours ago. After charging I've found it almost unusable because the screen calibration is off and the control panel tool won't fix it.
The problem showed up trying to set the date. With a numeric key pad to enter the date I kept getting a '6' entered for March, even if I touched the screen (with the stylus) ABOVE the 3 box on the screen. (3 is above 6 on the N800 display, not like the numeric pad on my PC keyboard:-)
So I started hunting and found the control panel and the "screen calibration" tool. BUT, trying to enter the 2nd point (upper right) it keeps saying I have to 'tap closer to target 2' even thought I touch the stylus as exactly in the middle of the bulls eye as I can! It won't let me proceed so eventually I cancel.
Is this a hardware problem? I tried calling NokiaUSA but there 888# said support is open 9am-9pm (doesn't mention time zone but it was 9:55pm CDT when I called:-) So I will call in the morning but I suspect I'm looking at returning this for a new one? Bummer! I want to play with it NOW!
If there is a user fix I'd appreciate any help. I've searched this board and NokiaUSA FAQs. TIA,
jim n
