Only thing that I'm aware is that MeeGo 1 is due in May and the major thing is it will have a GUI.
Unfortunately, if the MeeGo 1 "preview" for "In-Vehicle" is what it will be then we're talking just a XFCE desktop atop Linux. Not a touch-screen optimized "UI" or anything. But we'll see.

I think it will be quite a long time before meego is of any use to anyone except people who want to develop for it, when the next meego release does come i think there will be alot of dissapointed people whining about how crap it is.
Personaly im much more interested in qt4.6 and all the apps it will hopefully bring.

I was somewhat hopeful of at least a non-perfect rudimentary UX in MeeGo 1.. but that was somewhat dimmed by the "Preview".

yeah thats kind of the idea that i got too. just wanted to see if anyone heard or saw anything different. oh well, maybe I will take up the task of installing Moblin on my netbook. maybe that'll give me a bit of a preview of some of the differences.
1.0 will be out this month and include the netbook UX. Handheld UX to follow later, by the sound of it shouldn't have to wait until 1.1 though.

Is the "Netbook UX" something similar to the current Moblin and/or at least some "different" UX - or is the "Netbook UX" currently just XFCE?

from the looks of the video and pics of meego on youtub it kinda has a Moblin look and feel.

thats because intel are doing most of the work.
I think MeeGo for n900 will be ready this month its just upto nokia to sort things out there end for the UX or UI

I'm pretty sure it will be the "real deal". I don't think they'd have referred to netbook UX specifically being there if it was just XFCE as a placeholder. I'd guess something pretty similar to Moblin.

What makes you so sure it's Nokia that is doing the reference handheld UX and not Intel? I mean, Nokia is making one for themselves obviously but I'm surprised if we'll see that before the launch of the Nokia's MeeGo device later this year.

It would be a good idea if nokia did release there UX before they released a new device so that users would be able to see the possibility's of MeeGo on a nokia device.
The update from nokia doesn't say it will be ready for may, we can still hope, so its a tedious wait for the release with no actual release date.

Totally agree, but looking at Nokias history they usually show the new UI or OS with a new device announcement.
