Theme transparency settings

Hi people,
Ive been wondering, cause im quite satisfied with one of the two default themes (digital nature or what not) I just think that the background for widgets and shortcut icons could be more transparent. Ive seen themes in which they are more transparent and assume I can just edit a value in a text file somewhere.

My question: where is this text file if it exists and what value do I edit?

Nope, the transparency is determinated by the alpha channel in the PNG image, so you'll need to open the image files in a graphics editor to adjust the transparency.
