My 2 cents...
worthless.... why? it does not protect the screen.

I've already made a purchase for the black one :)
It's not really worthless as it iis made from a hard thermo type plastic which will protect the n800 from shock and also greese and grime. If the screen was covered by lets say a transparent clear plastic film then it would def. minimise the sensitivity between the stylus and the screen, because you're effectively doubling another layer over it so you would have to press 50% harder than usual.
I had experience with that problem with other large mobiles such as Sony Ericsson P900.
All the screen needs really is a screenprotector and a little fibre lense cloth with you.
There are so many other cases which may fit the n800 but I would rather stick to something which was actually designed for it rather than take a risk.
Tip: Never put your n800 in the same pocket as your keys :S my friend did and he had a nasty scratch along the whole of the screen and the screens was just full of dead pixels.
whatever happened to the official nokia case? did it ever get released?

And again, Nokia's "soon" can be interpreted in many ways...
