Hello everybody!

Time for a change. Due to Plastic Theme Pack groving so large package I decided to split the base theme and schemes into separate packages.

So the thing in a nutshell is:
You have a basic Plastic Theme Pack installed, it comes with basic color schemes. You can customize the schemes with included Setup -tool which is located under your phone's settings -application. You can select what font you want to use (any font installed to your phone), customize the homescreen and if you want to use custom transitions or not.

If you get tired of the bundled schemes, you can install addon-packs. Currently there's two of them. plastic-addon-pack-1 includes 9 schemes. plastic-addond-pack-2 includes currently only one scheme, Pleego, which is Meego-wannabe theme for N900.

You can also easily "convert" any theme to Plastic Scheme with bundled command line utility (type convertplastic to xterm) (version 2.311 and later).

Plastic Theme is the first theme ever released for Maemo which has this kind of functionality included.

VOTING LINKS FOR PACKAGES HITTING EXTRAS-REPOSITORY ARE:

Plastic Theme Package (the main base package, includes basic schemes) (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/black-plastic-theme/2.311/)

Plastic Addon Pack 1 (includes nine new variants, the deep-serie, liquid-serie and extra-coffee) (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/plastic-addon-pack-1/1.5-2/)
Plastic Addon Pack 2 (includes only one scheme atm, Pleego) (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/plastic-addon-pack-2/1.5-1/)

Screenshot of the Plastic Setup:
http://www.firenote.com/D-Iivil/plastic/plastic-setup.jpg

------------------------

CONVERTING OTHER THEMES INTO PLASTIC SCHEMES - version 2.311 or later only!

Just open xterm and type "convertplastic" (without quotes) and hit enter. It will give you guides on how to do the conversion. Make sure you are running the command as regular user, not root (don't type sudo gainroot or anything before the command).

----------------------------------

SOME NOTES FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO MANUALLY MOD THINGS AROUND

- all schemes are located at:
/opt/plastic-schemes/

You can edit all images for specific schemes how you like, but IT'S IMPORTANT NOT TO EDIT THESE FILES BY HAND:
/opt/plastic-schemes/SCHEMENAME/gtk2.0/gtkrc
/opt/plastic-schemes/SCHEMENAME/css/colors.css

Editing those in wrong way (ie. changing font name or size) will break up the font-style & size selector and propably end you up with broken gtkrc -file.

After you have edited the grapchics in the way you like, just run the Plastic Theme Setup again and choose to use the scheme you just edited.

Custom icons for Dark, Deep, Liquid and ExtraCoffee are located at:
/usr/share/icons/black-plastic-icons/

Custom icons for Pleego are located at:
/usr/share/icons/black-plastic-pleego-icons/

Those can be edited in the way you want.

Word or two about editing custom transitions included in the package:
- if you want to edit your custom transitions permanently, then edit this file:
/usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/transitions.tmp

DO NOT EDIT THE SNAP-TO-GRID -field at the end of the file, it will break up the snap-to-grid-amount selector @ Plastic Theme Setup

When you're done with editing, save the file and run the Plastic Theme Setup again and choose to use custom transitions.

------------------------------
IF YOU GET YOUR THEME SCREWED UP
In case something goes wrong with your moddings or you end up with broken grkrc-file and cannot change the theme back to default in normal way, you can do it from terminal by typing this (rootsh must be installed):

sudo gainroot
/usr/bin/personalisation /usr/share/themes/default/

After rebooting you'll have NSeries -theme and you can fix what went wrong or re-install the Plastic Theme Pack / Addon-packs.

---------------------------------

ABOUT INSTALLING NEW FONTS
This one is quite easy. Download your favourite .ttf OR .otf -font, save it to the "root" of your internal memory (the 27gb one). Then type this into xterm:

cp -rf /home/user/MyDocs/*.ttf /home/user/.fonts/
cp -rf /home/user/MyDocs/*.otf /home/user/.fonts/

If you get error complaining that .fonts -direcotry is not found, then type this:

mkdir /home/user/.fonts

And then repeat the step 1.

If you have created the .fonts -folder previously with sudo gainroot -"mode" on, then you need to sudo gainroot yourself before copying the fonts.

Great new feature.. Makes my Themes section smaller!!..

Could you hildonize the menus?.. ie make the radio buttons to selectable links.. and scroll by menu and not the bar in the side..

Great work!!! hope to see this feature in all of your other themes..

Menus are displayed using zenity (http://maemo.org/packages/view/zenity/) and I don't have a clue how to hildonize it. But zenity is open source and someone could indeed do something for it's dialogs.

yes, very good work indeed, but two things:

1. buttons/ radio selections during the install/config are very small, any chance to make them bigger (hildonize?)

2. when lots of other themes do this, can we have a main folder for say "theme colour chooser" in settings. then in that, are the themes; such as yours, and others when they are released

Errmmm... we already have place to select different themes don't we ;) My config is just to configure the Plastic Theme.

Well.. in theory... yes, but those would have to be created with exact same way as I do mine. I think creating a new "standard" is a bit too task for me to start :D

Very nice theme! Using the black version atm.

Any chance of a red version? I really liked your R-Style Red Theme. I tried orange and pink, but I don't really like orange and pink was a bit too gay ;)

Most definitely yes. Will add more variations to next release, but I shall now try to get this one to hit extras first :)

Noup. Tried to look into merging it with the theme, but my knowledge wasn't enough :D

But you can download the zenity deb here and keep it safe if you need to install it without internet connection:

Loving the theme D-Iivil.

I have a suggestion. It does involve more work on your part but from looking at the quality releases of yours to date I believe you are up to the task.
Would it be possible to add another user selection to the installation process where the user chooses an icon group?
I really like some of the custom icons e.g. the icons used by humanity, blue sky themes etc, but then I love your (black/blue) plastic theme. Can I have it all? Am I asking too much?
Can it be done?

Can I have the custom transition.ini file or the location of the same on the device? On my N900 the default transition.ini file is not replaced when the theme is applied/device rebooted.

You can add it manualy.

Just copy it from /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir

using the command:

cp /usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/transitions.ini /home/user/MyDocs

then add it to custom transition folder /usr/share/hildon-desktop

cp /home/user/MyDocs/transitions.ini /usr/share/hildon-desktop

Type this commands using root privileges.

Important!: Backup your original transitions.ini file from /usr/share/hildon-desktop first!

Neon green ? :D

Awesome themes btw, am now torn between the orange version and the iStyle lightphone Green , absolute dilemna really :p

There's something about the contrast you've introduced with this theme that really makes the screen look brighter and crisper than my default 2 bars usually shows.

Its the best thought out and put together theme I've used on this wonderful bit of kit.... Hope to see and use more of your themes.

Whoa! Thanks for all who have voted. Never seen a "vote storm" like this before :-P

And for those who have devel -repo enabled: I just uploaded a version 2.002 where I have made following changes:
- setup dialog is not shown on install (because some people like to install stuff from command line and may not be near the touchscreen). Setup can be launched from settings just like before
- selecting another color scheme no longer revert your theme to Nseries, it just restarts the hildon-desktop, hildon-home and hildon-status-menu (so no longer need to go and re-select the Black Plastic Theme to use)
- pressing "cancell" at any point of setup wizard will actually cancell the whole wizard instead of just current dialog
- added two new schemes; green and red

EDIT: wow, I tried it.. youve changed the text to red too! nice !!

I updated and I had to select the theme still, but thats okay

I updated and I had to select the theme still, but thats okay

Yeah, noticed that there's still no workaround for that, so edited my post above right after posting it.

Bumbed version 2.003 to devel, just tuned the setup wizard a bit so that user won't get that "reboot is recommended" -message if he doesn't have Plastic Theme currently active. Instead he gets just "Settings saved" -message.

I don't want to sound ungrateful because I really like this theme, it gets better and better. I was a tad surprised to see the config option on the settings screen. Probably there is nowhere else to stick it, so I understand the logic for placing it there, though just wondering what will happen when everyone starts doing this? It'll get quite busy in there - maybe another install option to leave no 'settings' entry? : )

Okay, I'm nitpicking, seriously it's not a negative at all, and indeed I actually do appreciate the effort you're putting in - even in real life - and even though we are complete strangers.

Thanks again.

@dchky:

im sorry but im thinking the opposite way....i am hoping for all my themes to get customizable in just a click (no updates/re-install) like the black plastic. i know it will flood on the "settings" but atleast not on the repos :D

You didn't sound ungrateful :)
You have a point there, but I don't think that the situation will build up like that or how big will the problem actually be; I already have tons of extra icons under settings -page and I don't find it annoying or messing anything up etc.

Thanks for the support!

I guess there could be a framework for themes advanced settings - i.e. one applet in Settings which provides a UI which multiple themes can plug into.

Great themes, and a neat way of packaging the color variants.

There's a wallpaper set on the maemo wallpaper site called Digital Shamrock

http://www.n900wallpapers.com/wallpaper/digital-shamrock

which offsets the green version to perfection :)

Aaah... now I see, it cannot be installed through application manager because the package is missing category (otherwise it would be shown in app manager).

You must install the zenity packager from xterm if you want to install it from .deb.

Here's the command for installing it by "hand". Assuming you have saved that .deb file under the root of your internal memory (the 27 gigabytes one) and you have rootsh installed:
- open xterm and type:

sudo gainroot
cd /home/user/MyDocs
dpkg -i zenity_2.28.0-1maemo0_armel.deb

Yes, I removed the setup wizard being ran during installation / upgrade. That's because now it's possible to do the upgrading or installation without need to use touchscreen. By default the black variation is installed.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the feature to change backgrounds aswell. Just noticed I made a mistake with it and atm you cannot change back to Black Plastic default background. I'm uploading new version atm which disables this feature until I have time to fix it (monday I guess) :)

It's actually very simpe how the scheme selector works: simple shell script copies images from corresponding folder to the main theme folder and that's about it.

If you extract the deb you can see the structure I'm using with folders and what the script looks like :]

You can still find the coffee background from:
/usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/backgroundz
(note the z-letter at the end)

There you have wallpaper1.png etc.
In case you want to use them while I'm figuring out how to do the wallpaper changing "correctly".

I chose the orange setting and then changed my mind and reset to black and restarted my n900. When I now get a text the notification it shows up orange and same when i switch application and you view the open apps, the text app also still shows orange.

I also get a blue trim in the address bar in micro b occasionally, is this part of the black theme?

Sorry if none of that makes sense, the theme is great and none of thw above even makes a difference to me but I just wanted to give you some feedback

that would be great to have the option...thats for sure.

That looks normal to me. I like to keep the notifications close to default to make them stand out no matter what theme you're using :)

Maybe off-topic, but is there a limit on the size of icons you can use on the desktop? If I try to use icons more than 64x64 size, they get cropped on the sides when used as shortcut on the desktop.

Is there a workaround to have icons of say 96x96 size on desktop?

is the music player background supposed to be brown? or is it cause i choose the coffee one?
coz currently i'm using blue but the musicplayer is still brown..
and if the theme is active and i change the colours, all my installed widgets disappear and if i add those widgets again, they come back in their original positions.. and this is only for installed widgets, not the buitin ones like ovi maps and musicplayer
and it would be kinda cool if the desktop wallpaper changes colour too.. *jus a suggestion*
and best theme yet (y)

I guess it is a bug. It will be fixed on monday or so! It's weekend and our developer deserve his time with family.

A quick solution: reinstall the theme, you can use the deb file (not needed to uninstall, or change the theme before) than set it blue or any colour you like, but not to coffee one! That should do the trick!

Cheers

Edit: Regarding the widgets disappearing it's not the theme fault! I think it's about another application who is using python hildon desktop package! That was the only package who made me reproduce the disappearing issue!

07-03-2010, 02:05 PM
It's safe to use the coffee one also with the latest package. It won't change everything in brown with the current version (2.007). I'll redo the background stuff monday (already have a working solution for that).

Edit #2: Coffee variation IS still messing around the media player background :P Well, isn't this what devel is for; toying around and testing stuff.

And about disappearing widgets; I get that too with widgets written in Python, but it won't happen every time which is weird. I need to think how I'll solve that (should I return the old behaviour where you had to go and re-select the theme after setting colors?)...

Edit: maybe I'll do it like they do it in PC world; I'll make it absolutely necessary to reboot after changing settings (last dialog will ask you to restart with yes / cancell -option). That way I don't have to kill the hildon-home on the fly (which causes the python widgets to disappear). That would also make it very clear to end user that he must reboot to make all changes visible. Would you guys find that annoying or could it be kind of midway-sollution?

fahadj2003
07-03-2010, 02:22 PM
yea old one is good..
actually keep em both
first while installation and other option in settings
atleast till the widget bug is solved
besides, i dun think its theme related, in pr1.1.1, this used to happen to me alot... the exact replica of the situation would be that sometimes, when i added a new widget, the system would be busy or soemthing leading to the widgets disappearing..
i was kinda new to it so i didnt investigate much

Good morning! Version 2.008 is uploaded to extras-devel. Changes are.
- fixed the coffee variation background hasling, it works now and that variation is safe to use
- changed the setup script behaviour; after selecting variation it asks you if you want to reboot or not to apply changes (no more disappearing python widgets!)
- setup script is now launced at the end of installing / upgrading the theme

d-iivil
07-05-2010, 05:23 AM
And bumbing rightaway ver 2.009 up repos. I noticed that I probably should not display reboot -option when running the setup wizard during upgrade / installation so that part is now skipped in that situation.

Reboot -option is still offered when launching the wizard afterwards from the settings -application.

Something about this most recent version doesn't seem to play nice with wallpapers. even after multiple restarts, no matter what wallpaper I choose, and no matter what theme I switch to, I only ever see the default black plastic theme wallpaper now.

I forgot to set correct permissions for the wallpapers when they are changed from my setup script. Will upload a fixed package soon.

In the meantime if you want to have your own wallpapers back, delete all .png files under:

The only issue i have with this theme.... is now i don't want to touch any of the older ones !!!

This themes fantastic and i hope any of the past themes start to integrate these colour changing options and transition effects because all the old themes for me personally are now dated with this being the new benchmark.

Lots of updates recently too so keep on improving !

One small thing - top bar in black at the top (status bar?) when changing theme colours can't this change also rather than just highlighted items if i change to a red colour it would be better to see more red accross the theme.

Keep up the good work.

About the battery & cell level icons -issue you had: seems to be working fine on my device with following steps:
- choose some other theme (I chose digital life)
=> icons are still from black plastic
- reboot the phone
=> icons are reverted back to normal

So I assume it's some bizarre hildon-theme-cacher issue...

Great job. I think the theme deserve to be promoted to extras!

There is one more question in my mind still. If the cofee theme change the UI color why the rest are not folowing this pattern? For example it will be nice when we choose red the UI turns to a delightful red and the wallpapers also.... At least it seems logical. Coffee was just fast experimental draw (and an inside joke of the amounts of coffee I drink) to try out changing walls and stuff. I'll probably rename it like "Coffee bonus" etc and move it at the bottom of the list. I try to keep the black plastic as black as it can be, but sometimes I cannot hold myself :P

Well.. both of those possible to do, but I think that would give too much options to choose with wizard like this and would drive most end users grazy :D Now there's "only" three "pages" to go through and I'm starting to feel it's too much :-P

Maybe I need to learn to code with QT and make a proper settings application where everything is in one page etc...

Now it feels like waste of time when you really can't use any of those light themes as all-around-themes since some programs are just unusable :-/

Hi, I just installed v 1.3 from extras.

I sure like how it looks, but I'm having trubble ;) big time..
I cant find the settings-option in the settings menu, I looked where the screenshot sais it should be, and mostly all over the settings menu.

I first installed "Black Plastic Theme" from the appman (couldn't find "Black Plastic Theme Pack") chose it under themes in settings and swiched the N900 off and on. Still nothing, so I switched back (to digital nature) and uninstalled it, then installed from the link at maemo.org (http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/black-plastic-theme/) and did the same thing, but I get the same results. (I think it's installing the same package, I just did it through the site to be sure I hadn't picked a different package).

I have only used the default themes before so I'm not sure I'm not missing anything important. This is probably a bug in v. 1.3 (?) or perhaps the installscript is missing the colorswitcher.

I'm running the global version of PR 1.2 if that is interesting.

I like the theme (nx) but I sort of feel like I'm missing out on the main feature ;) .

Also on a side note, the top right corner has a rounded corner in the highlight (when clinking) but the button is rectangular, (shouldn't it be like the top left corner?) then again I'm not using the latest one so this might have been fixed already.

Thanks for any help //Habmala

Scheme selector is available from version 2.xx

For some stupid reason maemo.org/downloads shows description from devel-version...

So to clarify:
- extras version 1.3 = does not have scheme selector
- extras-testing version 2.00x = has four schemes and selector
- extras-devel version 2.01x = has seven schemes and improved selector

So if you don't want to wait for current devel or testing version to be promoted to extras (will take 3-10 days) you have to enable testing or devel repository.

Yeah, it's very very confusing that packages that are in extras shows description AND the package "title" from extras-devel version. But luckily the version that has four schemes and selector (the testing one) is promotable to extras hopefully tomorrow (there's ten days quarantee).

But I'm really really sure your phone won't explode if you enable extras-devel and install the latest black-plastic-theme package from there and then disable the devel -repository :)

The lagging should last just for short period of time (from 30 sec to couple minutes) while the system seeks through the new theme images. It's also normal that after reboot system is same kind lagging for short period of time because tracker indexer runs a little journey and so does hildon-thumbnailer (what ever that is).

Yeah, I see what you mean after trying it out. That's something related to the photo app and how it handles the highlight. Only fix would be to give up that cool highlight effect and make it "solid" to everywhere else also. I think I'll stick with how it is now since that function (tapping back in photo app delete mode) is more rarely used than tapping top bar everywhere else.

This is now fixed with version 2.1 I just uploaded to extras-testing.

So now it's the time again when I need your votes to get this package to extras as soon as possible so that "reqular users" will have the latest version also:
http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/black-plastic-theme/2.100/

Differences between 2.0 vs. 2.1 are:
- six color variants (blue, green, orange, pink, red, black)
- one bonus variant (actually whole theme): Extra Coffee
- media player is now completely colored to match current scheme
- setup wizard is re-written to be more user friendly
- few new icons here and there
- gloving highlight effect when tapping top bar
- tuned transitions to be even more snappier

This is matter of taste ofcourse. I can tune the transitions to be a bit more longer in certain situations in next extras-devel -release. It will also include couple of new color variants which are requested.

Thanks for the yellow!
Can you share with us some wallpapers who can fit with the theme and modified transitions(the blur problem :) )? Maybe to include for every variation custom wallpaper and add an option on the setup to choose them or not! I knom you wanna ''keep the theme as black as possible'' but...
Offtopic: There will be any posibility to add customised fonts in this theme and let the user to choose if he wants or not to change the font? (I sow at Samsung Corby the ability to change fonts from the UI) Of course this will require adapting fonts for N900 but looking at the direction that theme is going, I think that you have the posibility to rewrite entirely the UI!
Keep them coming!

Thanks for all voters (again) :)

Now would be a good time to make some wishes if you feel you want some different scheme included in next update ;) Yellow is already requested and I'll do that. What other colors are we missing?

Dark red would be nice!

I'd love to create a silky smooth vanilla -styled theme, but as long as there are some built-in applications that does not work with light themes I refuse to draw them. It's waste of time :(

I'm talking about the menu and close buttons. In red for example when the menu is pressed the button background is not fully red, there is an effect in there. When the yellow is set, pressing menu will make the button background fully yellow. Hope it's a little bit clear now. :)

i just got the 2.101 update its awesome i was just thinking about full colour schemes like in the deep versions of the theme
works fine right now ill go through it and see if somethings wrong
thanks anyway its the best theme ever!!!

hassan_badredin

ok
now some suggestions :D
first, maybe the setup menu should be more finger -friendly :
it takes me a minute to scroll through the color scheme selection menu
and also the 'ok' and 'cancel' buttons are either too close one to another or too small
also the reboot now yes or no, ill reboot later selection area is too small : the little dot you have to press is hard to aim

then

maybe the settings background or any other background that is black in all color schemes should be coloured according to the scheme selected:
i mean in 'deep red' it should be red (light red, and when you select red as it already is), in 'deep blue' (light) blue and so on
maybe not as intense as the desktop colors but still...
maybe like the background in app manager...

Anyway its the best one ever!

Yeah, I realized what you ment right after I replied. Will fix that tomorrow.

And @Hassan:
I agree all the points you posted but unfortunately none of those is doable with my knowledge :/ I'm using zenity to show show those dialogs and I don't know how to hildonize it.

what about the lock screen, when you slide to unlock, can that be changed to be the color of the theme? i think it would be nicer to have purple rather than grey lock screen color on the purple theme for example

Colorized lock screens are on the to-do-list already :)

And it would be awesome if someone with some coding skills could lean a hand with turning my simple shell script into a native app.

As I told you previously: this theme will become a new UI for N900.

I wrote you previously about another option of changing fonts by request. It will be nice to have some fonts included in the theme setup (of course, adapted for N900). What do you think about this?

I can pretty easily change fonts used in theme, but once again, it won't affect to all built-in programs. Nokia has once again hard coded font-families in certain programs to use Nokia Sans instead of what theme is offering :(

Only way to get around this is to overwrite the Nokia Sans -font, but that would affect to other themes aswell and I don't want to do that.

Just uploaded new version to devel. Changes against the extras / testing -version are:
- six new variants (the deep -serie and basic yellow one)
- tuned transitions to be just a bit longer in some situations (like opening the application launcher)
- skinned the calendar application to be more "Black Plastic"
- deep -serie has now also custom lock screens

Let me know what you think :)

Great work :)

I have been using this theme since original black plastic was in devel.

Using extra coffee these days but switched to deep purple to test new update and now switched back to coffee but app manager still flashes purple when selecting download, uninstall or update option from main screen. Have rebooted twice.

This isn't a complaint. I know the theme is in testing for a reason and just wanted to feedback to help development progress in anyway.

Thanks.

Is it possible to remove the automatically apply theme after updating it. It's rather annoying! As i dont always use the theme however i always update my themes, and every time i update this theme it automatically applies and then i have to reapply the other theme, and then reapply my wallpapers, and then redo the xTerm commands to resize my icons!

I was thinking I'd do it like this:
- user has some other theme currently active:
* setup asks in final dialog if user wants to set black plastic active or not

- user has black plastic active
* setup will automaticly keep black plastic as active theme

Hi,
I've just installed the latest version and could not miss the fact that now the default system fonts are changed. While this may not be such a bad idea, please bare in mind that you need to make this change at least optional, because this directly affects the usabillity of the device. What I'm talking about is the fact that when dealing with a device with display constraints like the N900, a lot of user interface strings are carefully crafted to fit on the screen into the desired available space and changing the system font, may or may not affect this. In this particular case the new font is slightly wider and thus some strings do not fit.

Besides that the theme is really great! :-) and I have a feeling that this slowly becomes much more than a theme and rather starts to be a way of customizing the UI in general - transitions, fonts and why not icons ...

Thanks for your dedication to themes for the n900 D-Iivil.
I have to edit the gtkrc file after each update as I up the font sizes a little as my eye sight isn't what it was. I push the small size from 13 to 16, but that is a small price to pay for a cool theme package like this.

Love the theme; haven't been following the thread closely, so please forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I'm having an issue with the display no longer timing out. My screen stays active and lit all the time. It never falls asleep, so I have to remember to manually turn off the display. I had installed FlipClock, and initially assumed that was the culprit. But I have since uninstalled FlipClock, and played around with the timeout settings. I confirmed it was behaving normally again. But the symptom is back, and the only thing I've installed in the meantime was an update to this theme. It could be coincidence; I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

I bet it has nothing to do with theme or themes. Re-flash would be a first to try (make a backup first using in-built backup), then make sure the issue is away and start to restore installed programs one by one (there's a function for that in app manager if you included apps in backup) and see if the issue comes back.

This THEME is A-MAZING! :)
From the art on the background to the transitions and speed and the fact that everything works like a dream, is has to be the BEST theme out there!
I see everyones talking about voting- and i wanna know where can i post my vote.

When i first saw this thread, i'll be honest, i wasnt thinking to highly because I tried other themes and they would be sluggish and they wouldnt look good. I liked a few of D-livil themes but none hit home except this one. I am speechless. Lovely theme and beautiful work!
Thank you!!!

but i think the setup menu got a little bigger and seems easier to click on the icons
great job!!!

Font selection is very alpha stage on 2.107. It will be a lot faster with new Setup interface :)

New setup is already working, but I think I'll upload first version of it to repos at monday. But here's a couple of screenshots for teaser ;)

the new setup is simply outstanding! could you include after the job is done more fonts? something like comic sans, lucida black letter?

For those who change the font sizes by editing gtkrc:

It appears that the location of the active (for want of the correct term) gtkrc file controlling fonts is in a different location since this update.

Copying my adjusted gtkrc file to the /opt/usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/gtk-2.0 had no effect on the font sizes.

I found that replacing the gtkrc in this folder /opt/usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir/variations/blue/gtk-2.0 worked. (note that I chose the blue theme hence the blue variations folder)

Yo D-Livil are there going to be anymore custom icons for hildon apps. As mine are still on stock even with your theme. Makes me a cry a little. Like some light coloured ones the same as the SMS icons.

Gotta say a BIIIIIIIIIIG thanks for this theme! Extra Coffee theme looks & feels slick!
One request, would it be possible to remove the icon shadow for shortcut icons on the home screen? I keep having to delete ApplicationShortcutAplet.png & ApplicationShortcutApletPressed.png every time I install an updated version of the theme.

Maybe that could be one more thing to choose in the configuration? I think some people (myself at least) prefer to have the background for the icons.

2.107 is stopping when choosing "Droid fonts"

Updating fonts...please wait
running

but nothing happens.

Edit:
Its working now. Took a while. My Nokia is running @ 1.1Ghz, so I expected to complete faster.

Edit2:
Nice theme!

A config option would be a great idea - this is already the easiest theme to config to your liking thanks to the setup wizard, any other options would be a bonus.

i love the theme i must say one of the best... i have a small request because i notice it right away... you've changed the battery color and when its low its red is there a way you can change it so we will know instantly how many bars do we have left? and yeah more fonts like the above user said (segoe print) Thanks for the theme...:D

Yeah, as said before the font selector on that version is_very_slow. With new setup it will be 100x faster. Just have two minor visual tweaks to do and then I'm ready to upload it to devel.

i tried to intall it but the App.Manager says "incompatible package"

you should do this :
root
cd /the folder you put the zenity.deb/
dpkg -i zenity.deb

I just do this and succeed!
After all its a good theme and thx for sharing.

Let me first say to you that you have made the best theme out there.
Many many thanks.

I have a small suggestion, we have got a lot of color selections which is awesome :D But how about 2-3 more custom transitions, which have unique effects, like the first one you hit the menu button, but can we see more ?? THANKS ALOT !!

@D-Livil: If you change theme color will it change gtkrc? I use a custom font and so I don't want to redo it every time I decide to switch color ;)

I guess there could be a framework for themes advanced settings - i.e. one applet in Settings which provides a UI which multiple themes can plug into.

that sounds really fine to users, I hope its coming soon

I didn't understand the question. The battery icon does show white bars instead of original solid green area. And when it's red with zero bars in it, it means you have zero bars left on your battery. So what did you mean I should change?

Yep, it overwrites the gtkrc file every time you run the setup. If you guys have some freeware fonts you would like to be included with the theme, drop me a link for downloading here and I'll see if I add it to the pool :)

What about adding a generic font changer that lists all available fonts(like in Notes)? I'm using Lucida Grande which isn't a freeware font...

EDIT: Or even a button "Manually insert font name" and "Manually insert bold font name" (since some entries in gtkrc uses a bold font)
