Hey
Wouldnt it be cool if u cud play tracks with transitions n other mixer features through the fm transmitter??
Especially in the car or the bus/van on a long journey (NOT WHEN DRIVING!) as a passenger
Not a full sized DJ platform
just play tracks without delay and mixer features like fade in /fade out
So that you could have fun when you arent in the drivin seat, keep others entertained and JUST BE COOL:cool:
maybe only fade out/in plugins like in winamp. but can't imagine how can you fade in/out mixes yourself with no multitouch + you have to listen to other track as well will muxing them, don't you?

well... w/ stereo headphones can't you just assign the right or left channels to the different tracks? and then multitouch on the keyboard is not forbidden imho... or between keyb & screen. I think is doable.

I was thinkin of something really basic(to start with)
created this image in paint just now, pretty mediocre but just to suggest the ideahttp://i32.tinypic.com/16bdohs.png

this is just for the idea
lot of stuff is missing in it
the seek bar especially and track name and all
and load button may be compromised by connecting it to the album art (on click)

nice idea,
an other nice advantage would be a function for pre-listening a song, (with a normal headset are bluetooth headset)
with the possibility to make a que point.

Awsome Idea...
One idea if not to complicated could be an auto BPM sync system similar to what's used in software such as Virtual DJ
http://www.virtualdj.com/
that is very nice , hope it comes out quick, going on a trip !

What a great idea.
Here is another feature suggestion:
How about implementing a feature similar to 'Traffic Program' on fm radios? Basically the ability to define another fm frequency, which can only be heard if something is playing.
Still not clear? Well here is my situation:
I have a Nokia E52 with Ovi Maps navigation. I have an FM transmitter which is connected to it at a set frequency (e.g. 85.5Mhz). I then have my N900 playing musics tracks at another frequency (e.g. 91.5Mhz). I want the N900 to pause/fade out the music and allow my E52 to transmit the directions and then continue with playing the music.
Is this possible? It would be a handy feature for myself, becuase I travel alot and since the N900 doesnt have voice navigation, it would be a great help.
Thanks. :D

i am afraid i wouldnt be able to deliver such features and am indefinetely abandoning the project until further notice from my side
but any one who is capable can take up the project and finish it

Looking at instictive, it's getting very close. The N900 doesn't have a HW equalizer so all sound spectrum modifications need to be done the hard way, by the CPU.
Look at what the software based internal speaker protection impact is on pulseaudio CPU utilization. It's a pity the DSP isn't better used for this.
But there is an audio player already having an build-in 7 band equalizer, Symfonie. Maybe that one is what you want ?

Well the N900 does actually have hardware EQ. We have four filters (Biquad IIR filters) that are perfectly usable for EQ though only two apply for speaker output while all four apply for everything else. Also we have a 3D effect filter for bonus points :D
I've been working on this for a while and I have the kernel side pretty much functional, but the UI sucketh big time. There's a rudimentary UI that only serves for proof of concept right now. If someone can help me get this integrated into the system well with a proper UI we can have something working quickly!
If you are willing to help then PM me!
