Screen fix?

Anybody knows how to fix this problem w/o reflashing (pain in the ...) the device? All apps display normally when in the full screen mode.

I sure you tried it, but it's always worth asking: Did you try rebooting?

I did which initially did nothing, but then miraculously the problem disappeared, on the fifth or so try!

Next time try this in Xterm

killall kill hildon-desktop

This is a not too ppopular bug in MCE.ini. Had you edited any .confs recently?
