If you're using the built-in email client on the N800, once you have all your accounts set up, when you get a new message, the contacts/inbox icon on the left hand side of the screen will change color. That serves as notofication of new mail.

In your Control Panel, you can turn the "Show LED lights" option ON (under the Display settings). I think this will make the email notification use the blue LED light whenever a new one comes in.

If the loudspeaker is turned up a bit there should be a little "beep" too when the color changes. It's easily heard with the N800 in the shirt pocket or on the table. BTW it also changes color/beeps when there's e.g. an incoming google talk chat connection. Very nice, actually. It even helps in the office, as I'm all over the place with little time to go checking at my desktop.

Does it actually change colors? All mine seems to do is flash blue.

Mine goes from blue to flashing green to steady green.

The LED doesn't change colour - it just flashes faster.
The icon of 2 people changes from blue-and-purple to green-and-red.

Yahoo does not allow POP mail on the free email. I think you can do it if you pay for a Yahoo account.
