View Full Version : How about one single theme section in downloads?

The themes are spread out in at least two sections in the download compartment, "system" and one other. How about putting them in one single section, or better still, a separate theme section?

Nokia had no idea that ONE person would produce loads of great themes. You can see what I am talking about allso in the OVI store: Applications (most cwapp) / Games (not to bad) / Cwapp / Utterly cwapp
Very good Idea. Will it happen, No.
We had it in Diablo (and probably before). It'll take some nudging, but I think it's doable, albeit time consuming.

Hopefully we will get a theme category in the Application Manager some time soon.

Isn't it simply a matter of adding user/themes as a section in the control file of each theme package?
It should all go under desktop along with widgets and other UI customisations.

I only meant as a way to have them all in their own category, not the logical place for them assuming we follow standards :-P
I imagine the repos would also have to be modified to recognize such a section, considering the package will be blacklisted otherwise (ie not show up in HAM)

Actually according to this page (http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/Maemo_5_Developer_Guide/Packaging,_Deploying_and_Distributing#Sections), themes are supposed to be in System, but I agree with the OP that a dedicated Themes section would make more sense.

In System you say? why? maybe because when we install and apply new theme we need to restart because hildon crashes :D
