I have a Sony Erickson T608 bluetooth phone which I use to connect to Sprint Vision for data on my PowerBook and Zaurus PDA. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a connection on the Nokia 770.
I am able to Pair the device with the 770. When it tries to connect, I see the little bullet on the phone icon. I then see the flashing "P" on the world icon. Then I get "Internet connection failed. Try again?"
Also, the only way I can get the 770 to even try to connect via Bluetooth is by going to Control Panel -> Connectivity, setting my Preferred Connection to the "Sprint Vision" setup I created, and then clicking "Use without asking". Otherwise when I connect using the little world at the top, it only shows my WiFi connections.
I have a feeling I need to set up some "Supplementary AT commands" for Sprint Vision, but don't know what they might be.
Has anyone had success with Sprint Vision?
FYI: My connection setup (there is no Sprint setting under Control Panel -> Tools -> Mobile operator setup wizard...):
1) Control Panel -> Connectivity
2) Connections
3) New
4) Next
5) Packet Data
6) Next
7) CDMA, OK
8) dialup number: #777
9) my login and password that work on the other boxes
10) Finish
UPDATE: After the recent 770 ROM upgrade, my T608 is working perfectly for data! Thanks Nokia!

I'm curious if anyone has been able to use a 770 on the Sprint network yet using BT DUN. I've been trying for two days to get it to work using a Treo 650 ROM version 1.12, having problems first with just getting successful BT pairing, but then running into the exact same problems as you with getting a network connection.

Thanks for posting; it's good to know I'm not alone. Any other Sprint users out there?

I also have the Treo 650. How did you get it to pair? It keeps telling me that the phone has no supported features.

You have to enable Bluetooth, then enable Dial-up Networking. It should find the phone, warn about not being able to exchange files, but it appears to find the DUN service. I just can't get it to actually connect to the Sprint network using the #777 number. I just exchanged my 650 for a new one this afternoon for a completely unrelated reason, will try it again and see if I have better luck just with the BT pairing, which was incredibly buggy on the first unit.
I'm very curious if anyone has been able to get the 770 to work on the Sprint network, on any of their BT enabled phones. If the 650 is the problem, I'd be willing to get a second phone just to use as a BT DUN gateway if I knew it worked reliably!

I got it working! Did you use your Vision username/password? Thats the only thing different that i put in.

Jeff,
This is very exciting news! I'm still waiting on the new 650 to get provisioned by Sprint, but it would be most excellent if you could detail the sequence of steps you went through to get it working. In my setup, I was able, with a lot effort, to get the 650 to pair with the 770 over BT. When it would successfully pair, it was able to find the DUN service available on the device. I used the connection manager to setup a new connection for Sprint that included the #777 number and my vision info, but could never get connected to the network.
Did you have to specify your full Vision username i.e xxx@sprintpcs.com or just the xxx portion?
Cheers and thanks for any more details!
Michael

Here's a quick run down:
after pairing, go to connectivity settings->connections->use packet data, cell network: cdma, vision user/pass (no @sprintpcs.com). And then finish! Only problem is that it'll ask for a passcode each time! enter that, then it works. Sorry for quick reply, am on the 650 right now.

Did you have any difficulty getting the 770 and the Treo to pair? Mine keeps getting stuck and timing out over and over after entering the passcode on the Treo. I've tried this now on two Treo 650s both have exactly the same behavior.
Update: Finally got it to successfully pair, and I was able to get a network connection only by forcing it using the "use without asking" check box in the connectivity settings. However, subsequent attempts at connection after I had disconnected and turned off BT, then back on (simulating switching to normal Vision use, followed by 770 use) on the 650 failed to connect or even pair.
What a puzzle...

I spoke too soon! While it does work for me (1.12a ROM), it seems that after an hour or so, even without being connect, when I try to connect it says there is an error with the phone. I have to delete all the settings, and do everything over. It then works, but the same problem occurs later on. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fact that you can't pair with the 770 from the Treo. There is no "discovery" option on the 770, like with my Palm TX, which works great. I think that would also disable the need to enter the passcode each time I try to connect from the 770.

Seems to me that as long as I leave BT enabled on the Treo, and force the 770 to use the Phone connection, the repairing/network connection goes pretty smoothly in subsequent connections. Its not a perfect solution, but works well enough for casual use.

It appears that if I do not add the 770 as a trusted device, I can reliably use the connection as long as I enter a passcode. You just have to make sure that the 770 is not in the "trusted devices" list on the 650. So far, with this, I can reboot the treo and still have it work as a DUN without needing to re-do the connection setup.
Also, it looks like the 770 discovery mode can be turned on: http://bonte.co.uk/myBlog/?p=118
If this works, then perhaps we can pair from the Treo so that we would not have to enter the bt passcode each time.

Has anyone figured out a way to pair the 770 with a Sprint Treo 650 that DOES NOT require re-entering the passcode every time? I get a good and reliable connection, but having to enter the passcode on both the Treo and 770 every single time is starting to get old.

I've tried everything I could on the Treo and still must enter the passcode when I want to use it.
