I'd really like to see a set of games like the ones in Nintendo brain train. The ones bundled with n800 are great, but there are no equivalents for the vast majority of mini games in Nintendo.
Of ccourse, the best solution is to buy a Nintendo DS but...

I could get behind this. My tired old grey cells need all the help they can get. :p

Hmm....isn't there anything for the N900 that comes close to brain training or mind puzzles? I would also love to keep my brain cells working while on the go!

I'd like to see that on the N900 as well.

I found an awesome puzzle collection that is kind of what I was wishing for -> http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/puzzles/ It's in the extra-testing and extra-devel channels.

For x86 linux distributions there is the gbrainy software which is a bit like Dr Kawashima's brain training. See : http://live.gnome.org/gbrainy
Maybe it is port-able to the N900 :D

Pretty Hefty. Requires mono and gnome dependencies.
libgdiplus-2.6-1
mono-2.6.1-1
gtk-sharp-2-2.12.9-1
libgnomecanvas-2.26.0-1
gnome-mime-data-2.18.0-4
gnome-vfs-2.24.2-2
libbonobo-2.24.2-1
libunique-1.1.6-1
parted-1.9.0-3
libatasmart-0.17-1
devicekit-disks-009-3
gnome-disk-utility-2.28.1-1
gvfs-1.4.3-1
libgnme-2.28.0-2
libbonoboui-2.24.2-1
libgnomeui-2.24.2-1
gnome-sharp-2.24.1-1
mono-addins-0.4-3
gbrainy-1.30-1
I'm running KDE on my laptop though, which is why there are so many dependencies. Assuming all gnome dependencies are already installed on the N900 (doubtful), you would still need mono which takes up 133.97MB (on my system).
Maybe deb packages are smaller though.

Sudoku and Xword were available for the N8x0. Perhaps the maintainers of those apps can be persuaded to port them to Maemo 5.
You could also install Garnet, and try some of the brain trainer apps available for Palm

Sudoku is available in the puzzle collection I mentioned previously (it's called solo).
Yeah the puzzle collection in testing seems like pretty good way to give those grey little cells a workout.

Brain Party has been ported to Maemo: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=48817&highlight=brain+puzzle
Just download it from the repos (extra-testing or extra-development) http://maemo.org/packages/view/brainparty/
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks to all the contributors!
