Ok, so its running crappy windows but the form factor...I'm loving it. Looks a tad bigger than the 770 and twice the weight but I like it!

The only problem with this is the price, it is supposed to be between $1200US and $1400US.

I would love to see the Intel A110 in a N800 though (800Mhz, 512k, 400Mhz bus) it would definitely help out with some of the slower aspects like video and pdfs.

This is the very first UMPC that I rate in the same class as the 770 purely from the design perspective. I expect to see several clones within a year. It appears that this will sell at a premium over a similarly equipped Samsung Q1 Ultra. I wish either one came with a pre-installed Linux option.

Get a Zaurus then...

Get a Zaurus then... The big difference is the i386 processor, which means that almost every Linux application on the planet potentially runs unchanged on a Linux Fujitsu/Samsung. It will be possible to port standard Linux distros to these machines, but this may fall short in full UMPC support. On the other hand, there is now strong interest in x86 "Mobile" Linux and these devices should be able to take advantage of anything that comes of such efforts.

By the way. There will be no new Zaurus in future, so Zaurus is no option.

What? Did they all stop working?

They most certainly didn't. I have a 3100 sitting there with pdaxrom on there. Its just never switched on these days.

Modulok makes a valid point. The only reason my Zaurus is unused is because the 3.5" 640x480 screen just doesn't cut it anymore. No more development from Sharp means no possibility of that changing. Pity really.

i ended up buying one of these. nice, small but not as small as the nokia's. i think i like the nokia's smaller form factor but not the software and processor power. the fujitsu is alot larger but software and processor is better. tit for tat. either one, youll have to make sacrifices.

UMPCs running Windows-anything = epic fail.
I give a damn if it's running at 1.3 jiggawatts if it can only do that for an hour before needing to be plugged into external power.

Remember kids, with great power comes great responsibility...in that you're responsible for charging that sucker much, much more often than you'd like.

Anyone else notice that Adam Curry is talking big about how wonderful his N810 is and is trying to get "a deal" on them to sell them at a cheaper price to his listeners?

i get over 4 hrs use without recharging easily. i dont use it for more than an hour or so a day but i get several days use before recharging.

i dont think this equals a failer just because its running windows. i just think its hardcore linux users being bias with that statement.

You would think that there would be more umpc machines out there that got it right. I mean I still have fond memories of my Libretto. Came with windows, but wasn't much of a hassle to install linux. Matter of fact that was the first machine I installed linux on. (second actually. had installed on a sattelite right before that.) That is a sweet looking fujitsu though.

im sure linux can be installed but im uncertain about the drivers and touch screen apps. im not a power linux user and so i wont even try on this fujitsu. im just a end user who likes portability.
