Is it possible to hook this up to a gsp? I Currently own Microsoft Streets and Trips, it'd be wonderful if I could use it on this. Does anyone know if I can use the one I already have? And if not, some other gps?
Thanks,
David

Just about any bluetooth GPS will work. There's free software called Maemo Mapper, and pay software called Navicore: Navicore's designed for in-car nav, Maemo Mapper is designed for, well, other things. :)

There's a thread on which models work - search the forums. That said, I've been very happy with a Holux GPSSlim 236

I think it has to be a SIRF III GPS. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Can I not use Maemo Mapper for in car nav? I just ordered the N770 and was hoping that I could use it for that.

MaemoMapper is great but stand alone GPS programs are better. The main problem is it doesn't do its own routes. When you enter a origin/destination it'll go online and download the directions. It also gets its maps from online. If you have a bluetooth enabled cell phone with internet you can make this all transparent. If you don't and you know the routes in advance you can download the maps and routes in advance from home/work. Bottom line, its not nearly as versatile as a GPS program that can do its own routes (maps are easy enough to download in advance), however at its price (free) you cant beat it.
Here's a post I made where people list which bluetooth GPS units they use with MaemoMapper:

I use the i-Blue 737 at its works great with MaemoMapper.

Thanks for the response.
So let's say I go and ge Microsoft Streets and Trip and get the Canada and US maps. I can load them on the memory card and then use in car nav with the Nokia with that? I guess my other question is, which version of MS Streets and Trips should I get?

I tried to install these binaries to my NOKIA 770 but I am getting an error “Unable to install. Package is incompatable with current software”,I am using OS 2006 v3.2006.49-2. Please help me to install the same. Further can you suggest me which bluetooth GPS hardware is compatable with this product.

You CAN'T user Microsoft Streets and Trips on any nokia because it needs a Windows® software !
Maemo Mapper use Google/Virtual Earth/(and some others online) maps.
It can be used for in car nav BUT it needs internet each time you need to route/reroute and maps are not included, you need to download each tiles(jpg) of map you need (at each zoom you need...) : consider MM not as a nav software but as a mapping software.

I find MM to be perfectly acceptable as an in car navigation tool. The only time I've had problems is if I need to reroute, but hotspots are so easy to find (at least in my area) that's not that much of a problem unless it's a reroute I need right at that second. Otherwise you can predownload all your routes and maps before a trip and this works great! Also because of the quality of google maps its easy enough to follow a new route by eye in a pinch.

Shortly after I typed that message, I realized that MS Streets and Trips wouldn't work on it since it's not a Windows OS. I guess I'll just have to go with Navicore Software and get the North American maps. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive...although it does seem as though MM might have enough functionality to do what I was hoping for.

computers4sure has a TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 Bluetooth GPS kit for $149.99. Does anyone know if it will work with MM on the 770?

There is no other SOFTWARE for Mapping/GPS on the N800 or 770. Only MaemoMapper x.x and Navicore Personal 2007. You'll be first to know if any other come out. end of discussion.
