Trying to do this:
- Create a file called /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list
- Into that file, enter this line: deb http://koti.kapsi.fi/~sh8dfwk/mymoves binary/
If I try:
mv /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads/mymoves.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list
i get this:
mv: can't create '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list': Permission denied
How do I fix that?
If you do an ls -al on that directory what are the user permissions?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ls
You'll want write 'w'
This will come in handy :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chmod
I'm not sure what editor you can use, but if you try:
vi /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list
Then type the entry your required to:
deb http://koti.kapsi.fi/~sh8dfwk/mymoves binary
And then save, does it give you the same prob?
Probably will....
Must sleeeep...

Didn't qgil confirm all the language pack are included, which would include languages for input.
It was in a meego thread, someone was designing a Mandarin input app...
I remember that thread and I remember the opposite. He said it wasn't in the list of languages. Furthermore I just posted the variants that I got from Navifirm and there is no Korean variant.
I think it's stupid they didn't include Korean because it has the easiest alphabet in the world to learn. You can literally learn the alphabet in 3 hours.
Maybe there is a qt app ported from symbian. I think it is likely because there are a lot of symbian phones out there.
did ls -al and it shows root across the board.

An update for Switzerland:
The black N9 is already out of stock at Digitech (was in stock only today for some time). New supplies expected mid- (cyan, black) and late October (magenta, black 64).
hmm when i look at my pending order of a black 64gb version it tells me "mid-october". Maybe they've already accounted for pre-orders in their estimates?
Still very unhappy that i don't have my N9 yet :-(
Edit:
Something smells really bad here. Seems like even the countries where it is officially available aren't getting more than a teaspoon of it.
Come to think of it, now i remember one week ago someone at their costumer support hotline mentioned that they had some (unspecified) problems with their supplier regarding the N9.
Hope the "problem" was people constantly calling because of that stupid phone though :D

Vi is special editor. For novice users very confusing. If you want to do just minor edits, use nano.
so nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list will creste the file and let me edit it? still confused as to why mv didnt work =/

LOL you're in Vi, but it's not the easiest editor to get used to.
Certainly one of the more powerful ones though, once you master it.
Try pico/nano instead...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pico_(text_editor)
Are you root, change to root if you're not, if you can't try to use sudo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudo) to execute:
pico /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list
nano and pico not found :P .
so where do i get them? i miss my n900 suddenly, where i had leafpad :P
also no sudo.
i tried ls -al again and this time it just listed "user" instead of "root" everywhere.
im sorely confuzzled.

If you weren't root, you wouldn't be able to write to that directory.

Press "i" before typing anything to add stuff.
When done, ":" and then type "wq!" to write/save and quit.
"d" deletes that line.
If there's no sudo available, you could try just doing "su" with a blank password (I think) to elevate privs to root. Someone with an N950 would probably be able to give you a more definitive answer.

Jalyst: I nominate you as Creator. Im too lazy to bother, tbh. Id like to, but I know ive got busy phases where I wont be able to update it for streches of like a month or so at a time.
On 2nd thought i think it makes sense just to keep this for very generic discussion.
But we should try to actively spin-off things we want to discuss in more detail.
And if it's a thread that's going to require active/constant updates to the OP...
Then it's handy to also start a google doc & link to it in the OP, & in one's sig.
I still think a dedicated availability/pricing thread is warranted, or at least a google doc.
Too much going on all at once in this thread sometimes...

Oh my, Nokia stocks might be quite a bit up tomorrow. Michael Gartenberg is giving quite good words about N9 on twitter:
#n9 out of box experience is excellent. Native social integration is very good. UI is smooth. NFC pairing for accessories is way cool.
Seems like Nokia finally made it...
"su: must be suid to work properly"

You got a point about the antenna!
Last night I was a bit annoyed that the Nokia store weren't as fast as I wanted, so I took several speed tests (4 or 5 times) and results varied between 1mbit and 650 kbit, and afterwards on my gf's iphone4 (white); 200 kbit and 400 kbit - and it's easy to say that it didnt didn't reach max speed on any phone, lol!
However the results, unscientific as it were, still showed that antenna isn't to be underestimated!
(- we use the same network carrier)
Thanks mate,
If you've got any time to do more comparisons & share them here (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=78534) i'm sure it'd be hugely appreciated by all of us!
Of course, it's going to vary immensely for everyone....

yeah the last thing mentioned was a nokia employee saying he got authorization to spend 7 hours a week on getting it working and I know javispedro was the guy that was working on it asking different questions about how it would best be implemented after he got the radio playing through the headset.

I just ordered mine (Magenta, 16GB) at Mobilezone.ch. The delay is long (expected delivery: approx 1mth), but I was aware of that (for some reason, this color and the 64GB version are the last ones to reach Switzerland), and I got a good deal by renewing my 24 mths contract (which I planned to renew anyway).
I'll continue enjoying the good ol' N900 in the mean time.
Thanks for the patience and the help. You should sleep btw.
Also: I couldnt save, tried "whoami" and got "user", which seems weird since I clearly was rooted earlier. No idea why. Will reboot and see whatup.

Anyway, I'm still contemplating... Especially because right now I don't feel it's a complete replacement for our beloved N900.

Subject: The Nokia N9
1) You have only the black 16gb version listed for pre-order why not the cyan or magenta?
We don’t post the rest until we are sure of what we have in stock.
Do you know which variant your 16gb will be. The variants are listed here
http://mynokiablog.com/2011/10/03/nokia-n9-product-code-and-variants-shows-uk-ireland-model/
No I don’t, the first models that we can get our hands on are the ones we going to listed.
3) Do you have an idea when you will get them in?
We have an email alert for each item that is preorder, if you don’t want to lock the preorder price you can just leave your email, and you will be notified when the item becomes available.
4) When you get them in will you immediately change the pre-order to available please?
Yes
5) Some might order from you online that are not in the US since Nokia is not delivering to their country, would they still get the free shipping deal if they pre-order?
If no can you give approximate price range of shipping by continent?
We don’t ship outside the U.S. except Canada.
6) Will you be able to get a hold of a volume of them or will you have very little to sell? Feedback on the web seems to indicate you will sell out quickly
no matter how much you have.?
It all depends on our feed back or the amount of preorders.
7) Can you say what area in Europe your N9's are coming from?
Not at this time.

I've got a question for N9/50 owners. Is it possible to do x-forwarding as a server? i.e. to show Harmattan apps on a linux box? N900 lacked this functionality.
Also does anyone know how multitouch is implemented? Standard multiple xinputs as in gnome or some closed source trickery?

The ITU changed their definition to include HSPA+ .
No, they didn't. They issued a carefully worded press release in December of last year that, if read carefully, simply accepts that some advanced 3G technologies were being called 4G (rather than saying that they should be so called). They then somewhat oddly refused to comment any further, allowing US marketeers to (continue to) abuse the term.
However, in June of this year Hamadoun Touré, Secratary-General of the ITU, went on record to say LTE Advanced and WiMAX Advanced are so far "the only air interfaces that represent true 4G-compliant technologies" - which is in accordance with the definition produced prior to the misleading press release.

The 'root' in the ls output means that root owns the file, not that you are root. 'whoami' is correctly telling you that you are logged in as user. You must become root to mess with files owned by root (e.g. to create a file in /etc/apt).
As you are not already aware of this, I wish you luck in modifying these files without screwing up your device on some way. You're gonna need it ;)
hehe nothing really horrible can happen, im not gonna go all Swordfish and wreck stuff. Its a simple "make a ****ing file" task. I had none of this in maemo5. it was just "sudo gainroot" and off i went.
My issue here is that EVERYWHERE ive looked i get the information that "once you switch on developer mode, you have full root", and theres nothing I could find that suggests theres anything else you have to do.
In addition the ls -al command gave "user" across the board instead of "root" several times last night, which made me think it had something to do with this.

Apps won't take up lot of storage. The crucial factor is how much music you have. I have 150 albums which take up 12GB so 16GB is definitely not enough for me. If you don't see your music growing beyond 10GB, I'll say 16GB is enough.

did ls -al and it shows root across the board.
Trying the "vi" thing :P .
This happens after i hit enter "vi /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list":
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-UkByL0NLMT8/TozB2sCldTI/AAAAAAAAAwY/onvH9NFNR1U/s720/2011-10-04_22-44-09.png
And nothing happens if i try to write stuff. If i press "d" though it says "Delete 1 lines (1 chars) using [D]".
To start inserting, you can press "i"... when you're done typing, you can press ESC to go back to command mode, where you can type commands starting with a colon (":")... i.e. to save and quit...
:wq
(the colon means you're giving a command, w means "write the file" and "q" means quit)
This assumes you gave the filename at the command line, if you only launched vi without a filename (i.e.: only just typed "vi" ) you can insert text and finally write out the file with a filename like this:
:w /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mymoves.list
and then later quit with:
:q
If you've made a horrible, horrible mistake and you want to quit without writing the file without the changes you've made since loading, you can quit with a panic, like so:
:q!
This will tell vi to just quit without writing anything.
I hope this helped.

I think the point is to have unlimited music. Streaming is not an option for me, you'd need an unlimited data plan, good reception everywhere you go and unlimited battery life. When I was listening to internet radio on my N900 battery was run-down pretty fast.
Oh, I just assume people have good reception everywhere they go, have a usb cable and have a shitton of mb included in their monthlies :( .
its very very common over here. i think 98% of the country has GSM network, and 3g isnt far behind iirc.

I ls -al and see root all over. i try whoami and get "user". i try the mv thing and permission denied. wtf is going on here.
This seems normal. As a normal user you shouldn't be able to write files out to anything in /etc like that. Precede the mv command with a sudo. i.e.:
sudo mv /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads/mymoves.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
(You don't need to retype the filename at the end, if the destination is a folder... and to be safe, end the folder name with a / so you can get notified whether it had properly put it into an existing directory or else it'll create a FILE with the name sources.list.d if you don't.)
Again, hope that helps. Seems like common Linuxy stuff, so far.

hehe nothing really horrible can happen, im not gonna go all Swordfish and wreck stuff.
You might have luck in this long thread called N9 and aegis on the meego forums. Javispedro and others were having a long criticism about something along these lines about how restricting aegis is. This is way above my understanding but I think that thread might help you.

its very very common over here. i think 98% of the country has GSM network, and 3g isnt far behind iirc.
as you can imagine switzerland is quite hilly, so while its difficult to find a location without reception constant high data throughput is another matter.

That's simply not true at all, otherwise there would be no reason for networks to switch to it.
There is a reason. Marketing.
In South Africa, most cell towers are backhauled by 155Mbps ATM. One network has all their towers backhauled by 600Mbps metro-ethernet. Most networks advertise 42Mbps, while the network with 600Mbps backhaul everywhere advertises 21Mbps.
Please tell me which one is going to give you better bandwidth and latency ...

Some parts of it is N900 deja vu.
e.g. I deleted the default MP3 music files it had in /MyDocs/Music/. Then copied my own mp3 files. It saw my new ones but still thinks that it had the original ones also. But then it can't play them and throws an error a the file is missing. There is no way to refresh the library manually from what I can see.
So had to enable developer mode (which installs xterminal app for you) and then had to run "tracker-control --hard-reset". Few seconds later, voila, old record is gone and now only sees what it should see.
Glad I was an N900 owner. =P

That cannot be answered since the bottleneck could be anywhere. You also haven't given any real latency information, only vague information about their infrastructure. The best possible way is to be pragmatic about it and test it, much like the available tests there are of HSPA+ and regular HSDPA. But rest assured that if the one with 21Mbps could legally advertise a higher bandwidth but isn't, then they are not doing their job properly. The launch of HSPA+ has been a "soft launch" at least here where I live so marketing has nothing to do with it.

I STRONGLY recommend not to mess around with root owned files/directories at the moment. Not until N9 gets a flasher so that you can reinstall the firmware. Last I checked the flasher for N9 is not yet available.
The /etc directory is protected by Harmattan's security framework aegis, so just being root is often not enough to modify the files. Also, the security policy is such that if you modify some files that are deemed "critical", aegis will force the device into "malfunctioning" state which you can't fix without reflashing.
Anyway, someone already posted the correct instructions. After installing the developer tools, you should have "devel-su" command. Run that, the password is "rootme". After that you should be able to modify the files. But I recommend you to wait until N9 has flasher.

Just run devel-su and you will become root.

Oh I'll just add an additional warning... I would also recommend against activating the developer mode until the N9 flasher becomes available. Someone in the MeeGo forum posted that something went wrong when activating the developer mode and the device went into malfunctioning state, and is thus unusable until the flasher becomes available :-P.

whats weird is that i should have root once developer mode is switched on, no? maybe ive misunderstood it and you need something.
I'm not sure you understand the idea of accounts and roles. You are, normally, 'user'. To do anything as the 'root' user, you need to issue a command that allows other commands (like the 'mv' command or even a shell that you can perform multiple commands in). The idea that toggling developer mode does something that you described as 'gives you root' sounds odd. What I imagine it probably does is disable the ability to be able to issue commands as the root user--hence, turning on developer mode simple permits a sudoers privilege that lets the 'user' go ahead and issue things like 'su' or 'sudo' to be able to issue root access commands.
Also, I have to agree with the previous post that said that you should probably wait until there's a flasher and image available. There's no point in bricking your device already. I would hope that there's plenty of hacky snacky stuff you can already do without needing to root it.

Probably we wouldn't have a phone like the N9 without Steve Jobs. Even if you don't like Apple's products, you gotta admit he really shook up the industry, for the better.
small issue with the browser: you cant scroll in textboxes like the one im typing in right now. annoying when quotereplying to posts with text that outranges the textbox.
also, when deleting text in them you get small graphical glithes like blacl dots under the deleted text.

Apps won't take up lot of storage. The crucial factor is how much music you have. I have 150 albums which take up 12GB so 16GB is definitely not enough for me. If you don't see your music growing beyond 10GB, I'll say 16GB is enough.

Seeing that his feedbacks are all for Nokia phones, maybe he has some special connection where gets them cheap?

The 2GB are probably used by the OS itself. It is more difficult than you think to install more than 2GB of apps (excluding data....). In my opinion, the need for storage is often overestimated (unless you plan to install thousands of apps or have a huge music/video collection....).

There's a natural product called "AtoB calm. You mix it with hot water drink that. It's basically calcium and magnesium and a some powdered vinegar it calms your muscles and nerves.
There's another natural product called natural sleep you can get from lef.org and that's the sleep hormone and some milk peptides.
You take that and sip some atob and you're going to sleep within an hour.

very doubtful as it's Apple software. the obvious solution is for them to get skype on their IP4 phones then people on mac's pc's android's n900's and n9's can contact them and visa versa. and you don't have to be on wifi to use skype, works quite well on 3g (depending on network that is)

My 6-year old Golf 5 TDI doesn't. I would rather have a phone with FMTX than buy a new car (which I don't plan on doing for the next 2 years), or buy a different system for the car *just* for aux in.
Now, if the N9 gets Nokia Car Link, it might be worthwhile getting that Alpine ICS-X8 and I wouldn't worry about FMTX much.

My 4 year old Mustang came with a AUX. It matters on your make, model and package.
My newer Pioneer replacement has AUX, USB and allows for Bluetooth streaming. I don't even use FM Radio, find it annoying while traveling to always have to locate and seek for a signal, use XM Radio instead.
Different uses for different people. That's what you guys are discussing at the moment.
And for the record, there's been quite a bit of good hands-on information about the released Nokia N9. I'm not saying that this thread needs to be renamed, but I think that a lot of the better, actual discussion needs to be in a new thread and this thread for the continued areas and discussions for the folks not in the areas where the N9 has been released and we're still discussion, speculating and ranting about that.
Just a thought.

Are you guys happy with the stock audio systems? I have replaced the stock systems or installed an aftermarket one for every car i owned, and they were as old as 13 years. It's the manufacturer's fault that they provide you mostly lowtech sets. Like Volkswagen who liked to charge a premium for their integrated crap that you get better performance out of a 60EUR aftermarket stereo, or BMW that did not even provide USB or SD interfaces in their premium sets like 3 or 4 years ago.
Maybe i'm not changing cars as often as you guys seem to do, but when i get a rental, i always prepare with a thumbdrive and a stereo cable. (I never use the N900 for audio anyway, that's what the Cowon is for.)

I never realised this was a doctors thread for sleepless people .
Excersize is the best way to get sleep pattern right especially if it is sexercise ;).
True but with the following caveat: exercise up to 4 hours before bedtime is actualy bad for sleep because of the level of exercise related hormones you still cary in your blood (as these are stimulant).
Also the case for eating (no the same cause, still bad, digestion prevent durable sleep (but not napping ;) ))
Bed exercise is OK as it also provides endorphine which is good for sleep.

Why is each MHz, each mAh and each byte RAM so important? What really matters is the quality of the software, for both performance and user experience.
Samsung produce devices which can be compared to this thread. The numbers are great :)

Be carefull of the culture over there and make sure they dont try to rip you off, when asian families help you they expect a lot in return so be carefull ok ;).
i'm trying not to be offended here abill. it's not really like how you put it. Filipinos value their family much and when you've been accepted as part of the family you'll get the perks and the responsibilities. we won't rip you off, we just expect that you'd be willing to give as much as we do, not just in terms of cash. though it is true that most people here think that foreigners have more money but that does not seem to be aironeous' case. his soon to be family knows that he doesn't have much, so they're not expecting much from him either. sorry for being OT, just felt the need to get it straight.

Dear *******,
Hi A****
Your phone is now packed and ready to be shipped, and I've just
finished filling out all the papers. I have decided to ship it with post
express, even though it's very expensive, furthermore I have chosen the
option of having track and trace - so you can follow your package all the
way home.
The courier will be here tonight, and collect the packages to
the distribution centers, so it gets to the right place - your place :)
After this I will provide you with your track and trace, and write you an
instruction, how to track and trace your package. If the courier comes late
tonight, and I'm tired, i will send the instruction and track and trace,
when i wake up tomorrow.
Last thing i want to say, and it's the most
important part - WHAT A GREAT PHONE!! :) I really like the new Meego on the
N9, and the swipes is just well working :) and the oled display, is so
crisp!
Best Regards

I Really dont get how the **** Nokia thinks.
They have to many variants of hiendphones. On is best for photos one has NFC one run Meego and the rest crapos.
They've always done this "product spam" (http://gizmodo.com/303158), and it's really annoying.
"Sorry, you can't have a phone with everything, you've got to choose a feature to sacrifice."
Even five years ago: This one is missing stereo audio but is otherwise great! This one doesn't do 3G but the audio is amazing! This one takes amazing pictures but runs series 40!
Which is all fine and dandy when you're king of the hill and nobody can touch you, but when the likes of Apple come along and put the very best they can do all into one model and absolutely wipe the floor, you really can't stick with purposefully hobbling your devices in subtle ways just to try to guarantee an upgrade path.
Plus if they didn't do feature spam, they could have only a few models, updated ~yearly and get decent consumer recognition and hype.
Cheap one, small one, one with a keyboard, high-end one. Done.
Hmm, that was a bit rambley

He said mine is going to be shipped today. I wonder where he gets those from? Since the N9 is on sale in Denmark since last Friday they shouldn't be too hard to find there?
Seeing that his feedbacks are all for Nokia phones, maybe he has some special connection where gets them cheap?
Next time this bloke has some in i would be tempted to get one!
I'm willing to pay 590! hope he has actually got these??? any one bought one from him yet?

Ok good show at least you have ordered it, i hope it arrive to you before you set off to the phillipines.
Be carefull of the culture over there and make sure they dont try to rip you off, when asian families help you they expect a lot in return so be carefull ok ;).
Also, having lived in California, and worked with Philipinos (as well as other Asians) the portrayal you give is not the one I experienced. To be candid, I felt far more welcomed and comfortable with that culture than I was with most others and they never "ripped me off"... it was usually "what's fair is fair" and I LIKED that. Frankly, they were far more generous than that, even. Heh.. I got SO much Philipino treats to go with my tea from a coworker whose wife loved to cook them. :)
I'm not Asian but I kind of felt a pang of offense to read that just the same too. The advice is good--you should be careful not to get ripped off, but I don't know why you wouldn't get just as likely ripped off by an American, Portuguese, Brazilian, Mexican, Nigerian, Russian, Australian or anybody else. Come on.

Nokia only has eyes for Symbian, & soon WP...
As evidenced by the huge array of apps @betalabs Vs Harmattan's minuscule support.
My newer Pioneer replacement has AUX, USB and allows for Bluetooth streaming. I don't even use FM Radio, find it annoying while traveling to always have to locate and seek for a signal, use XM Radio instead.
Different uses for different people. That's what you guys are discussing at the moment

N9 will hold it's own against the other top-end smartphones out now.
I do understand your point....
But as a top-end phone, no other top-end handset will be vastly better.
At least for 720p & stills, N9 may end-up besting all of them in that regard.

Still doesn't quantify why Symbian is the crappiest OS. Just currious why people think that....
This is only my take, but Symbian always felt as if I was doing what it wanted me to do, not a workflow that was intuitive to what I wanted to do in a few instances.
It was somewhat inconsistent and at times, bothersome or controls were not immediately offered. Same for Blackberry OS, imho. I've never been a fan of either, but that's just my personal opinion. I felt the same way for iOS too, if you want to pull that out.

So tempting but I just can't see spending $900 on it, especially knowing there is next to zero chance that the warranty applies to it.

When is yours expected to arrive?.
And can you verify when you actually get your 64gb?.
This will at least make one seller from ebay trustworthy.
You know how many times over and over and over again people have been asking on this thread, "OMG where'd you get that Denmark N9 what are you talking about who is this person?" and how many times have I posted over and over about it.
Hey, when I get mine I'll proudly snap a pic with my LG G2x as long as it gets here before I have to leave on the 17th of October.
And as soon as I get the tracking number I"ll post the email from ebay up on here if someone else here does not do it before me.

Agreed, ridiculous that nokia decided not to sell it in the USA... I just cannot justify spending $900+ on this phone when a Galaxy S II is $550 on amazon...
Really puts me totally off of nokia the way in which this device has been brought to market!

if you can't figure this bit out i STRONGLY recommend you stop here and wait until the N9 flasher and image are available and working because you are a prime candidate for bricking the phone.
better to wait a little while longer before playing with that side of it.

Again, too bad those GREAT tablets will be running Android or a Chinese Frankenstein version of all popular OSes?
But indeed today's prices paid rather confirm the gadget status of the N9 than proving it to be the uber utility object.
the 4s is actually more expensive than n9 =.=
cheapest u will find it unlocked its 650$+taxes and shipping
thats for 16gb, 4s, n9 have amoled and bigger screen, multitask, better camera.
4s have dual core and gpu no fart apps uses, 1080p video

If the n9 just had a bit better hardware (a dual core 1ghz cpu and a SGX543MP2 GPU) than it would be perfect. Im just wonder why nokia always put's older gen hardware in their phone's. I'm not saying hardware is everything, but it pretty much decides how the software will run, but at least they did put a 1gb of ram which is great :)

Because of the "Beautiful industrial design which will live on in the upcoming WP Nokia's" Quote some vicious only good for CEO type.
They choose to restrict battery consumption and battery size.
They chose not to market the OS as: green and blue eco type "runs more smooth leaving a fraction of the footprint of the rain forest, ozon consuming Android".
At least they have finally stopped saving on the RAM was a bitter lesson learned from N97 and hopefully N900 for which at the end we conclude they might have made it the instant classic with 512MB standard.
Personally I am waiting for the Nokia do it yourself Harmattan phone. You just buy a motherboard from Nokia and plug your SOC, RAM modules, choose your battery and your case form factor, with or without keyboard, and screen with or without multitouchTM. See you in 2050.

Micro USB is standard, so you can charge with any charger -- I charge my N900 with Motorola, Samsung and SE chargers besides Nokia's that came with device. And yes, you can buy adapter, charger will work on AC from 100-240V.

the n900 charges fine on 1 amp charger.. I would really doubt than the N9 can not handle a branded wall charger, as the EU has asked for interoperability between chargers. (hence the micro USB chargers for everyone, and the micro-USB -> iphone adaptor for IP4s)

Sorry to hear that, I feel so much better now about holding off on pulling the trigger with them. They also raised the price about CHF 60 from earlier this week for the 64GB. Their website pushed the 'in stock' date they publish to the 14th from today. N9 prices need to drop quickly.

because the UI is buggy like crap and not user friendly.
Hell even my n900 who is seen as a geekos is more user friendly than symbians peace of snit.
They should hade wipet it out long way ago!
the new Anna on C7 is freezing. the core apps hangs some time and so on.
also my boss who I gave a tip to go for E7 cause its a bussinesphone. But it seems to be a bigmistake cause he also has problems with the phone.
symbian was just the unfortunate but stil incredible OS post-iphone era..they need extra effort to rework the touch UI which they failed on it period, but atleast it's the greatest OS for non-touch phone around..
remember n95? back then you wudn't have called it the crappiest OS, wud u?

Just came to think about it... The only true novelty on the N9 is the Swipe UX, which is really fluid on the rather "old" 1 GHz OMAP3 and SGX530. No stunning photos, lacking many features from other high-end (even older Nokia) devices, such as FMTX, USB-OTG, HDMI out...
Maybe we shouldn't see the N9 as the last MeeGo phone by Nokia, but as the first phone for the next billion?
What do you think of this?

I selected to prepay it from my bank-account because if you pay with credit-card they charge +5%. So they are wating shipping till they get the money. Then I let it ship to friends in Switzerland, so I've to pay any delivery and pay only 8% swiss taxes instead 21% of my country.
Now I don't know if they have a) problems to get the devices from their deliver or b) they have sold all the devices from the first shippment and are waiting for the next.
If b) I'm irritate because they told me they will set my device till they get the money and now it seems that was not the truth.
