Hi,
I just recently picked up an N770 from Woot and have spent the last few days tweaking it and installing new apps. Try as I might, though, I haven't been able to find Minimo. This site, http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/, seems to have a copy but I'm unable to connect. Anybody have another link?
thanks....
Steve
I have never seen that ".br" address... Ehm.. here is the official page for it from Maemo. http://maemo.org/downloads/product/minimo/ (One click install)
Hope it helps!

Unfortunately that URL points at the .br site...so no luck.
thanks,
Steve
Ok... ehm... well ^^
Here is the install file. Just rename it minimo.install instead of minimo.txt, then open it in maemo. Hope it helps! (could not upload it with .install extension due to forums, that's why it's got the txt extension in the first place.)

Minimo seems to be available from the .br site right now - perhaps it was a temporary problem when you checked as the .br site isn't the most stable of sites and does have occasional issues.
This is the directory with the .deb: http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/dists/bora/user/binary-armel/
The one-click install and Application Manager repositories are described in the authors blog, here (http://tonikitoo.blogspot.com/2007/06/minimo-02-maemo-port-release-and-new.html). When installing on 770, first look at the third comment in the blog:
The Bora version works flawlessly on Nokia 770. You should add the Herring repo to satisfy a MiniMo dependency:
Web address - http://repository.maemo.org
Distribution - herring
Components - main
Once more... thanks, Antonio! :)
Note: For those that are wondering, "Herring" is an unofficial development repository that contains unreleased but stable changes, and "Sardine" is another unofficial repository which is highly unstable.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip on adding the herring repository.
In any case I am still unable to connect to the .br site -- getting a dnsserver error.
I'll keep trying...
thanks,
Steve

www.maemo.org.br resolves to 72.3.139.221
If you're having DNS problems it might be a problem with your ISP?

learn something new every day...
I've had a DSL line from Verizon for the last couple of years and have always used the DNS servers that were initially assigned. A little Googling just now turns up the fact that many people with Verizon use 4.2.2.1 - 4.2.2.5 -- not 151.198.0.38 which is what I've used. In any case, switching to these new DNS servers reveals the presence of the .br site...
Minimo now installed and running fine.
thanks for all your help.

http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif Well, nothing is idiot-proof, and I appear to be the bigger idiot to maintain that truth. I have tried nearly every suggestion I have read in this and related threads, and I cannot get Minimo onto my brand new 770. I got as far as getting it into the Application manager, at one point, but I always got an error related to missing parts. Now it too seems to have disappeared. ( I have NOT messed with command line instructions - right now, they scare the heck out of me.)
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/minimo/ has a nice green "click to install" buttton: which tells me to open with Application manager. Pressing "open" jumps me to a blank applications manager page saying "no applications to install". Attempting to refresh the list results in " no applications available - unable to refresh list. Last refreshed list is shown."
Doing a "save" from the page suggests a download has occured, but 'refresh list' gives same result as above.
Chosing Package: Install from File and choosing Minimo jumps me back to Main > Install new applications (no applications available). Refresh claims itself unable to refresh (again)
The log keeps suggesting:
Malformed line 9 in source list /etc/apt/Sources list (dist parse)
whatever all that means. I have reloaded Minimo install quite a few times from several sources with the same result.
Going out to the Brazil page,
INSTALLING MINIMO 0.2
From minimo.install
go to http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/
click on 'minimo.install'
tap ok for all further dialogs :)
from AppManager
Add/Edit this entry into "new catalogue":
web address: http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo/
Distribution: bora
Components: user
"Refresh list"
--results in "unable to refresh list..." and the log still thinks line 9 is malformed.
Go to "Browser Installable applications"
-- don't even know where to find this...
pick "Minimo".
--obviously can't do this either - can't find it - exept in my documents folder.

Sounds like your sources.list file is buggered up, try removing the most recent repositories or paste the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list here so that we can advise what you need to remove.
As for installing Minimo on 770, have you read the authors blog page here (http://tonikitoo.blogspot.com/2007/06/minimo-02-maemo-port-release-and-new.html) and followed the instructions in comment #3 to include the Herring repository?

My Linux-knowledgeable son in law cleared out my Applications Catalog listing (except the 2 from Nokia), and then followed all of your post on your blog page, and it worked!:D Thanks for the help!
