The OneClickFlasher is updated today.
You can find it here. (http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/db230178-aa63-4c73-ba7f-20930da13cad/Nokia_N950_OneClickFlashers.html)
Here is the news from Nokia:
The Beta2 firmware release is now provided in the OneClickFlashers. The Beta2 release provides a number of bug fixes and functional changes, along with the addition of a number of features and applications (Nokia Store, a Twitter client, and a WiFi hotspot application among others). 'Developer Edition' marking and the SDK installer have been removed.
I wish it can turn my brick N950 on again...

Anyone else used the Linux flasher? I noticed some others at meego.com have faced the same error.

I have no problem in my device. There is an arrow on the screen after flash. You just need to wait for 20 mins for it to disappear.

The "Developer Edition" branding was not needed anymore because it was too easy to remove it. Also there are just minimal differences between the N950 firmware and the N9 firmware (some preinstalled Games, mostly) so there is no need to brand it as dev edition anymore.
The SDK installer was just the SDK installer file on the memory of the device. It is totally possible to download it now (wasn't the case when the devices were handed out) and that means that there is no need to distribute it using the firmware/devices.

oh. :(
..........
the linux image on developer site is sometimes broken. Many people have had problems with it. Windows file works.
Be careful when flashing, backups made with backup tool will not get you your contacts back. You need to export to vcards and back them up. If you restore from backup the twitter client will not work anymore.

Definitely wise to advise caution, but I had no problem restoring contacts from a backup made immediately before re-flashing - just took a while for them to get 're-indexed' and appear in the contacts application.

I'm using Mail for Exchange with my Google account. Nearly no need to do any backups. All my contacts, emails and calendars were back seconds after I set up my account again.
Does anyone know why Splode (on MyMeeGo (http://www.my-meego.com/software/applications.php?fldAuto=257&faq=3) / in Nokia Store (http://store.ovi.com/content/189246)) is not in the Nokia Store anymore?

You managed to restore contacts with the backup tool from a backup made with the original firmware? Could you give the exact steps?

In addition the showcase N9s have the same firmware in them so anyone who can travel to a place where they have showcase devices, can freely test the functionality with no NDA...

Exactly what happened to me last time. seems that some of the image in your device is newer than the RX-51.bin packed in the flasher.
You have 2 choices: 1 send it back to finland for reflashing 2 wait for the official release (the next firmware should be the official N9)

I had similar error messages but the failure was reported at the "rootfs" stage, like: http://forum.meego.com/showpost.php?p=32541&postcount=162
Do I really have to send the device back?

Do you still have the flasher (usr/bin/flasher) binary around? I can't finxed the Beta1 package anywhere, and that's the only file I need.

Thank you very much. I managed to get the 3.11.5 flasher from another helpful person on #harmattan, and wrote up my solution (http://www.martindengler.com/proj/n950-flasher-beta1/) so hopefully nobody else has to go through what I did.

I suppose we need images 1st anyway....

Yes, you need to get images. Flashers, at least, 3.11.5 and onwards currently work for both device types.

Who cares, the N9 is better overall anyway, & you'll be guaranteed support.
You'll get nothing but snickers if you want official/non-official support for your black-market N950.
Most who have it, have it as part of Nokia's dev. programs.
The rest? Who knows, it has nothing to do with this thread.

If the N9 does better than N950, why on earth there are SO MANY people seeking for N950? Even if you go to some info page of N950 such as engadget or nokia dev forum you will find dozens of people begging for N950. Are these all mad?!
I personally prefer the Al metal body of N950 to the polycarbon of N9. And the physical keyboard ROCKS! We care!
Since we have the community I don't really care about support from nokia.

I still prefer the N900 keyboard. :o The distance that my thumbs have to travel between each keypress is much further on the N950 keyboard, which reduces my typing speed quite a bit. I don't have any issue with the slider, although I did find it slightly awkward at first.

Really? You prefer more interference to your phone signal?

And keyb is the only other reason why you think it's "teh awesomest"?
There's tiny/portable BT qwerty's that are far better than any built-ins for serious typing.
The N9's VKB is excellent for less serious typing, supports everything a modern VKB should.
Read a bucket-load more about every single hw/sw aspect of each device.
Then you'll come to realise that the N9 is a better device overall.
I'm tired of typing them all up for every single person that comes along.
Since we have the community I don't really care about support from nokia.
You won't be saying that in 12mth, guaranteed!
You will need/want at least some support from Nokia.
You're suggesting release something like the N900, but with zero support.
N900 lack of support was bad enough, zero suport for 950 would be hugely frustrating.
"The community" alone can't do **** without some help from Nokia.
Please don't respond to me in this thread.

I don't need you to "teach" me again. Sorry! I know N9 has better battery life, Amoled, better sensor, NFC etc but I DON'T CARE! And how about the screen size and material?
I don't want you to believe N950 is as good as or better than N9, but everyone has his own opinion, why you want everyone to believe what you believe?!
And what will you do if your "guarantee" is NOT working?!

Fact remains, this is not the thread for what you want to discuss.
If you want to start a thread lamenting about there being no N950.
Feel free to do so....
Response to your AMOLED Qn
There may be some difference between Samsung's SAMOLED & Nokia's AMOLED (aside from CBD).
But the basic sub-pixel arrangement is the same...
As I understand it, SAMOLED is just a fancy name for Pentile AMOLED.
However, there may be some other subtle differences that I'm not aware of.
SAMOLED+ however, is definitely different to the N9's AMOLED.
It has a higher no. of sub-pixels....

...BT keyboards, which cost an premium (easily $40 if they should not be total rubbish) and then almost all of them do not even provide HID and SPP profiles. I easily pay $100 or more for a good mechanical (i.e. with Cherry MX or ALPS switches) PC keyboard, but not $40 to $60 for such plastic crap; which sucks extra juice by the way - I'm not the type that leaves his BT on all the time for power and for security reasons.
So, that plastic crap has to be better included.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the screenshots I've seen look like the N9 VKB does not provide a 4th row, and you have to use a mode switch to enter digits.
That alone would make this and any other VKB crap. Guess you have passwords with digits (how unusual, eh?)... that's why I find the VKB of my TouchPad quite ok (it's slow as molasses for me nonetheless to type "virtual"), it gives me a separate digits row. It even has CTRL and ESC simulations if you know how-to. If I succeed some day altering the layout to include cursor keys (seriously, it's friggin' pain using text fields without shift/ctrl/arrow/tab combinations, for cursor positioning), I would be even considering myself happy somehow.
So much for N950 vs. N9...

Personal opinion I guess. I'm happy with BT or USB portables.
I've found them better to use than buit-ins for heavy typing.

Dunno, still learning about all it's aspects, yet to be all confirmed/doco'd in the one spot.
From what I've seen though, it seems roughly as good as iOS/Android handsets.
I don't have a feature-count list handy to say definitively that harmattan's VKB is better or worse.
So much for N950 vs. N9...
If you consider no hw qwerty as the main reason why the N950's better.
I'm not sure how many could, but each to his own.
Off-topic here anyways :)
