Let's get this focussed discussion under-way. As the title says...
This thread is for discussing where to buy N9/x0 Accessories, when, & how much.
Not even N9/x0 are to be discussed, as that's what this (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1104354#post1104354) thread's for.
Tis purely about finding the best deals for everyone, wherever you may be.

Here's some already, thanks to some folk in the main thread
Will shorten links later....

Because I really wanted to try yellow, green, purple, white and red.
and I see on the bottom it does not come up over and possibly interfere when you swipe up from the bottom although that might be a negative in that the case might not stay on.
Well I'll see, just ordered it.

The nokia cr-122 car holder for n8 and e7 works nicely for the N9, too. Especially with the silicone cover on (which, IMO, is excellent).

Sent from my N9 using the default browser and the excellent VKB.

If an online store called G5 Online shows up in Google search, as it seems they have N9 cases now, don't go there. The have overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon (yet 100% negative on another site), and I ordered one hard plastic case and 10 lcd protectors for an N900, as well as silicon and gel cases and 10 lcd protectors for an E7. We've received nothing from them so far and it's been weeks (shipping address was also in UK). I've sent two emails, one polite and one angry, no response.

EDIT: Got a response, although it took forever. I'll update this post regarding the situation.
EDIT2: They claimed one product was out of stock and but that they've now sent the order with a replacement product which I agreed on. I'll see when it arrives, but I can't shake the feeling that they would've never posted the order had I not contacted and practically threatened them. Usually when an item is out of stock, a webstore contacts the client to inform them of the situation, rather than waiting for the client to contact them to ask why the shipment hasn't arrived when it's already been weeks.

How does that work with the N9?

I tried to pair mine with a diNovo edge, to try it out. Pairing works an from the icon it looks like the N9 recognizes it as a keyboard. On the bluetooth page for the device it says "HID" in supported profiles. Has anyone had any success using a bluetooth KB with the N9 (or N950)?

nvisible Shield SCREEN Cover ;) http://www.ebay.com/itm/IPG-Nokia-N9-Invisible-Shield-SCREEN-Cover-Guard-Protector-Phone-Skin-Armor-/110757369158?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c9a75546#ht_5536wt_876

I ordered the full-body protector kit and I do not recommend it. The cuts were not accurate for the camera/sensor holes and left a few millimeters gap between the top of the screen and the casing (the bottom portion of the protector was aligned flush to the casing). once I got the protector applied with the water/soap mix, I did not like the feel at all. Perhaps it needed to dry first, but it was not a smooth touch (rubbery) and air bubbles/stress marks were visible everywhere even though I applied with the squeegee. it looked a mess if you angled it beneath the light a certain way and made the N9 feel like a cheap phone.

I used the protector for the metal camera frame on the back (comes with the full kit). Again, it's several millimeters too short to fit perfectly, but it should prevent scratches to the metal and it was easy to apply because it was small. the rest of the full body kit comes with pieces to apply everywhere else and I'm not even going to bother, will just use the rubber case that came with the N9.

For reference I'm coming from using a Vikuiti DQC-160 screen protector for the N900 for 2 years which required no adhesive to apply, which I prefer. I think I'm going to try out their CV8 protector since it seems like the DQC kind of protector (would like to hear opinions on it or other protectors).

http://www.protectionfilms24.com/article/vikuiti-screen-protector-cv8-nokia-n9-57388.html

EDIT: actually may go with the Vikuiti adqc27 instead.

Thanks for posting. I'm going to try the CV8.

I got another screen protector (no soaping required) on ebay but the cut is atrocious. It only covered the screen not the entire front glass. Looks and feels terrible.

I'm going to keep it on until I get this one. I hope they cut it right.

EDIT: actually may go with the Vikuiti adqc27 instead.

http://www.protectionfilms24.com/article/vikuiti-screen-protector-adqc27-nokia-n9-57387.html

I received the Vikuiti adqc27 and applied it. Better than the original screen I tried, but still not perfect or ideal. It's pretty much the same as the Vikuiti DQC-160 if you used that for the N900, just cut (barely) for the N9.

Pros: It's easy to apply (no adhesive, just goes straight on); it can be reused. It doesn't alter the swiping experience much, its just not as smooth as glass but that's understandable. The swipe is much better with this than the previous protector, where it was rubbery and my finger would get stuck on the rubber when swiping.

Cons: It still isn't cut perfectly. It is 2-3 millimeters short on each long side, wherre the glass is still exposed between the protector and the stock rubber case. Also, the corners and edges keep rising up due to the tapered nature of the screen. I've smoothed them out for minutes but it does no good. They don't rise high enough where I think I would catch a corner on something and accidentally peel off the protector, but it's ugly and ruins the aesthetic of the phone design.

So basically, the adqc27 is a step in the right direction but still not perfect or ideal. I think I'm just gonna go raw and just trust the gorilla glass w/ no protection. It will look and feel better that way, and hopefully I won't get burnt (note, I only have this attitude towards *phones* lol).

Unless someone else can recommend a protector that works, I think I'm through with trial and error here. :)

Now that I am back from my vacation in the Philippines I opened up my box of cases I got from ebay that I ordered right before I left which are of course Chinese and I'm expecting very little in terms of quality.
So here are the pictures

All of the colors.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h204/gbbaker/20111109_015.jpg

They are plastic and slightly less slippery than the phone but more slippery than the stock case.
There is no top or bottom to them, they are basically a wrap around so I fully expected for them to slide off up or down if I tugged on them to try to slide them off but I can't get them off. They are snug on there.

To summarize
1) not anti slip they are plastic but not glossy
2) they can't even punch the holes right SO LAME
3) they don't fall of easy in fact they are very snug on there
4) does not interfere with swipe gestures for me
5) just take a knife and scrape out the bottom of the hole where it slightly gets in the way of the bottom LED if you like the case but DO IT FROM THE INSIDE not the outside because then you will see the scrape marks like you can see on the green one so i have to toss that one.

Biggest obvious stupid mistake on them is the wholes are off center as you can see from the picks.

OK I give up

For those of you who are fans of the Waterfield/SFBags microfiber jackets:

http://www.sfbags.com/products/cellphonecases/cell-phone-cases.php

The (cough cough) iPhone 3g has close to the same dimensions as the N9--width and thickness are the same, while the length of the N9 is maybe a millimeter or two longer. Suffice to say, the iPhone 3g version ("Size 30" on the order form) fits the body of the n9 perfectly, and there is enough length on the case to be able to cover the n9 with some room to spare.

Someone know where I can purchase the OEM "Nokia Fast USB Charger AC-16" (european rounded) like here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nokia-Fast-USB-Charger-AC-16-Nokia-Phone-Accessory-/190603210439?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesso ries_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item2c60d62ec7) but maybe less expensive ?
I looking for a good BT speaker for car like Parrot MiniKit Slim (http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/plugnplaycarkits) that I have and he work perfectly with my N900, but with N9 don't work... I don't know why.. He can't read the address book and I also can't send the my add. book to device.. And I think I need new BT speaker..

Thanks

Does anybody have any idea as to when the Nokia essence will be up for sale? I'm dying to get my hands on this headset...

Biggest obvious stupid mistake on them is the wholes are off center as you can see from the picks.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h204/gbbaker/20111109_016.jpg

I tried to take a picture of white and my favorite yellow but the lighting from my lamp changes the yellow and if I take it away it is really dark and the white becomes a grayish. I'll try again.

white

yellow

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h204/gbbaker/20111109_026.jpg

Obviously that is not how they look for example if I flash you can see how bright the yellow is

OK I give up
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h204/gbbaker/056_fg.gif

These are obviously low quality so I will be looking for another case but it's fun to dress up my little race car hottie barbecue sauce.

I think there's a reason why the hole for the flash is slightly off. The secondary mic (for noise cancellation) is located in that area - this according to the user's manual of the N9.

omggg, i thought i was the only one here who was trying to find that out, lol. I'm also dying to get it! I had the Nokia BH-905i, beautiful headset, but I broke the right side...and I hear it doesnt work well with the N9 so holding off from rebuying it... But the Nokia Essence is perfect! Specially with NFC :D
Edit: Forgot to say, the only piece of information I found was near the end of 2012... I trully hope that isn't true... I forgot which site I saw that from, but I haven't seen anybody else talk about release dates...

The official cover that comes in the box from Nokia doesnt have the slightly off hole... I don't think a chinese company would know something Nokia didnt think about...or would they? lol

I would love to find out about the essence also, one thing is it just me or does is it kinda of a waste to have nfc pairing on headsets? I mean I can understand the speakers, but its not like u constantly pair and unpair headsets that you need to have nfc enabled to make it less of a chore.

I broke down and got the Nokia J earpiece. I love how it works and amazing stand by time.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/stylish-protective-pvc-back-case-for-nokia-n9-blue-100443

This is my review that dx did not publish (yet?)

The case has different material in the front and back, the front is glossy and almost transparent while the back is more opaque and it is matte. The holes in the back are about two mm off center. The big one is just a little ugly but the hole for the flash covers about one third of the flash which is unacceptable. The seam is not of very good quality and doesn't feel very nice to the touch.
The front part is thicker than the original Nokia one, but it doesn't interfere too much with swipe. The top part is completely open and makes inserting and removing the phone easy. Also the comparison with the original one that comes with the device is unavoidable and the original wins in every aspect.

The N9 is a beautiful phone and there are many features missing to make those stunning looks possible. Don't spoil it with this case.

In short? Don't bother.

That's a nice looking piece, but a call-handling headset :(
I'm more into the music-handling headsets, which is why i am fascinated by the BH-905i and the Essence. My essential criteria are:
1) Bluetooth
2) Sound-cancelling technology
Haven't had much luck finding some...

Oh and I agree with your NFC point... NFC pairing in general sounds useless to me... only saves you tops 10 seconds... But whatever, if my N9 has it and the Essence has it, I won't complain about it, lol.

The thing is i learnt that if i wana listen to music im gonna get a real pair of headphones for listening to music, more often than not, on the n9 im gonna be hands on the phone anyway, to change albums etc, so I really don't mind the wires. Also I really don't mind noise cancellation but Im a bit paranoid, if im listening to music on my phone, its usually on the go, I dont really wana be deaf at that point in time. lol

I completely agree with you, wired headphone are unparallel in quality, but me... I really do mind wires, lol. I have been using bluetooth headphones for the past 5 or 6 years. I began with Sony HBH-DS970 then changed to DS980. But unfortunately the screen only worked on Sony Ericsson phones :( And even when I do change albums and such, my hands somehow managed to find itself struggled in the wired or obstructed by it, lol. So bluetooth all the way :)

From reviews I've read, that's also what I heard concerning calls... I ordered mine last Friday, hopefully I'll get it by the end of the week and I'll let you know. But personally, I rarely used my N900 and N9 to call people and even less to use a headset for it, so I'm not really concerned, lol. What concerns me is the bass...on that I have really seen mixed reviews :S

Pretty decent for music all around. They probably won't be replacing $300 IEMs but they do reasonably well IMO. Annoying bit is most of the time after yelling "HELLO" into the headset a few times when answering calls, I just give up... grab the phone to switch it the audio to the device... and by that time the other person hangs up because they couldn't hear a thing.

I was talking about the rubberized case that comes with the device, imagine one glossy and white like the white version of the N9. I'm wary on trying the chinese made ones because it seems not many of them fit, the holes aren't cut to spec etc, I want it to look seamless as the one that comes with the N9 does.

Even if you don't trust the link I provided, on my side I have received the product ...

It's an original one, and it work like expected, I can manage the multimedia player with 'prev', 'next', 'pause/stop' keys, pressing for 1 or 2 seconds on the 'phone' button permit to dial the last number ...

I have checked pressing 1 or 2 seconds on the 'phone' button during listening music, the phone app start and call the last dialed number, when I hang the phone call, multimedia player resume the playing of the song where it have stopped ...

So, for €7.88 ($10.55) it's worth it :D ...

I strongly recommend the BH-214 to all others users !!!

Well, for the people who are looking for a good leather case, this one fits the N9 pretty well.

I can tell you it may look a little small at first, but once you squeeze the phone in, it's a perfect fit. All the holes line up and it has a pretty good feel to it.

I don't have pics of it yet, but I can vouch for a perfect fit for it.

I have this case and rarely use it. I am not sure it was actually designed for the N9. I take the silicone case off of the N9 and it is very difficult to slide it into the cp553 case. It's also hard to pull the N9 out again.

It feels like a quality case but it is almost unusable due to how tight it is around the N9.

well done and quality, but boring to use, its not that quick and easy to get the phone out of it.

To those who show Lumia 800 cases here for the N9, beware, as the flash will be covered by a Lumia 800 case, i bought 2, the hole is longer behind the case and hide the N9 flash, better to buy a REAL N9 case on a website if not available in your country.

Seems really brand new and not available in shops for now, only on Nokia sites.

So I purchased two cases from Ebay from the user taipo212 and they are really decent cases for the price. The white one has a really nice glossy look to it. The blue one I think is lighter blue than the original Cyan, think Carolina Tarheel Blue is the color. It fits snug, the holes on the back are cut perfectly. On the sides there are no holes for the buttons, but indentations that work perfectly as well.

The only drawback to this case is on the top of the phone there is only a cutout for the headphone jack, there is no cutout for accessing the usb port to charge the device, so when charging you just slip it out of the case which isn't that difficult. Out of 5 stars I'd give these cases a solid 4 because of just only having a cutout for the headphone jack.

I would say they do have a bit of gloss to them but nothing too extreme. The material is a bit more rubbery, not as soft as the case that came with the N9, however the fit is great and doesn't affect swiping anyway and the cutout on the back of the phone is perfect, I really hated the ones that just have a vertical cutout for the lens and flash. For a few bucks I think it gives you really nice color options.

That seems to be the official case on Expansys, all the official cases seem to be around that price range from other sources.

Thanks for the share... the pricing of these r great!

Slipping the case off everytime while charging is a nuisance though, 'coz that'd soon make the material loose/disfigured. But heck, @ that price it's still adorable.

To those who show Lumia 800 cases here for the N9, beware, as the flash will be covered by a Lumia 800 case, i bought 2, the hole is longer behind the case and hide the N9 flash, better to buy a REAL N9 case on a website if not available in your country.

Since I don't take many pics with my N9, I guess I haven't really noticed it.

Oh well, time for a warranty-voiding mod with a sharp craft knife. :D

Other than the case covering up the flash, I still like the feel and style of the case.

I purchased it a while ago, but stopped using it after about a week. It is just too tight. Even after stretching it overnight it comes back to its original size in 15 minutes of use.

I just purchased Noreve flip case and its been great.

I agree - the CP-553 looks great but is too tight to be usable without some serious stretching. The CP-557 works pretty well.

My biggest surprise was a flip case off EBay I got in desperation for all of $5 with free shipping :D - it works well and has saved my N9 from some knocks. Eventually a bit of plastic did crack but I just bought another!

Pocket Boom Portable Vibration Speaker
-Demoed with Nokia N9
http://i41.tinypic.com/263j061.jpg

It’s a funky little speaker with an awesome conduction twist. Solidly build, looks great and sounds awesome as long as it can firmly attach to the surface. Speakers as small as these are obviously not for audiophiles but they are a great option for folks that travel or just a nice geek thing to have. With just your phone, a pocket boom and and easily obtainable cardboard box (or other useful surfaces) you can have music a crowd of people can listen to on the go.

These can be picked up at MobileFun for £19.99, making it one of the least expensive conduction/vibration style speakers available (as well as being nicer looking).

Check out three youtube vids & further details here:

On another note, can I advise those who might have been thinking about using the touchpad's BT KB to stay away. I bought it for my touchpad but never used it until i got the N9. With somewhat flakey BT support now available i paired the two devices and found ONLY the alphabet is recognised when typed and even then the connection is flakey.
In fact I get an error where the backspace remains pressed (not physically) and all my typed text gets deleted.

Funny because the touchpad KB worked perfectly with the SGII.

I reckon some of these can fit on our devices - especially the hard cases as they do not have a side (so no hole for the camera key).

Decent leather case too.

Edit

Forget about the different placement of the flash on the Lumia. I dont really use it anyway..so not an issue for me.

Do I understand correctly that you need the official Nokia silicone sleeve to make the N9 fit correctly? Being a white N9 owner(it doesn't come supplied with one and there isn't an official white sleeve either) it's the thing that puts me off buying one.

Yes you must have the silicone sleeve on the phone for it to fit.

I have also found the volume and power buttons almost impossible to operate even though there is a cut out in the holder.

Also not that the phone slides into the holder from below, this restricts mounting pots and means in my car I have to tilt the holder to get the phone in.

However it is very well made and one in the phone is very secure.

This is one of the reasons I chose the Melkco over the Noreve case(you have full access to the microUSB flap with the case closed). Another is that the closed case doesn't block the speaker at the bottom.

I quite agree there, my wifes iphone case is like this and I often think it's a nice design touch.

Times such as using the phone for navigation where it's best to pop the phone in a mount, means you need to remove the case. If the front section could unhook it would become just a back case which would be preferred than nothing at all.

Still, overall very happy with my case, especially for the money I paid(was something like £23 delivered).

Just bought bh-221 bluetooth headset, black version. Would have wanted to buy the white to match my N9 , but store was out of them and had only 1 back so here I am...

pairing was super easy with NFC. Sound quality is little better than bh-214, which was pretty good itself. There are treble and bass boost that enhance the music if you are into that kind ofthing. Using it with Koss headphones ( do not remember the model) . Have not bothered to use the ones that came with it.

Nice feature is that when connected to phone, when play is pressed music starts regardless of music player been open or not.

All in all I am pretty pleased with it.

I purchased a SU-39 stylus recently, as it is compact and the description stated that it would work for capacitive screens (although the N9 was not in the list of the compatible devices, but the list looked fairly outdated anyway). Result: it does not work. At all.

Would you have any idea of a compact stylus like the SU-39 that would work on the N9 ? I need something I could let attached to the silicon housing of the phone. It would be for using HarmChom and stuff like that.

Brookstone Tablet Pen for Touch Screen Devices. I Use this with my Asus transformer and occasionally on my N9. The stylus has a telescoping feature to extend an extra inch and a half. However, the 3.5mm stub breaks easily.

Thanks for your answer. However the stylus does not look that compact to my opinion, it's thick. A thinner shape would allow viewing the screen while using it, and more accuracy. But perhaps something like the SU-39 but compatible with N9 just does not exist...

I got a response from them:
Hi Alison/Customer_service,

If that's the case then the N9 should be on your roadmap...
If it weren't for some artificial constraints Nokia's deliberately/inadvertently created over the past 16mth+ it'd be doing MUCH better.
Still, outside some key 1st world markets it's doing very well, everything considered.
And it has a very loyal/rabid fan-base, despite all the odds/factors stacked against it.
You'd be mad not to take advantage of all that....

Cheers,

Chances still look slim to none, but it's important to note that they do factor-in the no. of emails they get requesting a case.

If that's the logic then why did they make one for the N900???
It was FAR less hyped overall than the N9, didn't roll out with carriers/resellers in MOST countries, was mainly only in retail channels worldwide.
Nokia saw it as "step 5 of 6", their experimental/learning device before their 1st mass-market & consumer-focused maemo/meego phone.*

Be sure to use either silicone case or back case etc. with that one as it'll scratch up the silver camera surround, no clearance. Otherwise yes it fits perfectly(it's the mount I always use for my E7 on sat nav duties).

In other news, those White N9 owners that have been seeking a good fitting white silicone/rubber case, I've seen this one mentioned before but some were put off by the lack of charge-flap cut-out.

Just purchased(or received, postage was slow) one of these and they've revised the design now and they do indeed have the cut-out for the microUSB flap. Personally I was actually a little disppointed by this as would have preferred not to have the cut-out for mine, but there we go, I think most folk will prefer it.

I am trying to purchase this FM transmitter/charger/holder (http://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Advanced-Intensifying-Transmitter/dp/B0038L495U) for the N9, but I cannot find any retailer that ships outside the USA (I live in France). Any idea, tip, or alternate FM Tx/charger to recommend?

Just a tip.. if you can't find a dealer that ships outside USA, try using Shop & Ship (www.shopandship.com) to deliver your stuff. It's a very good option.

I am using the Nokia CC 3015 hard case and am very impressed. The design might not be everybody's cup of tea but the fact that you can put the phone down upside down without the glass touching the surface makes it a winner for me.

Same here. I only regret not getting one sooner, before I got micro scratches. Besides, they could be found for as low as EUR 6 here.

Thanks for the tip. Actually I already thought to services like that but as far as I recall, this was always very expensive. I don't know if Shop and Ship is cheaper, but anyway they do not offer delivery in France.

By the way I finally managed to get an auxillary jack wire in my car by using the CD-changer socket. It works flawlessly and the quality is great.

It has a one-time fee of $45 for a lifetime account. It may look like it's a lot, but If you're a frequent online shopper, it's worth paying. But yeah, damn, I dunno why they don't deliver to France, since they even deliver to Iraq, Tanzania, KSA, countries you haven't heard of, etc.. so that's weird O_o

It seems many European countries are missing in the destinations. It might be a VAT issue : they might not want to do something illegal, and if they ship to these destinations legally, then it would be really expensive to the customers and they would have to warn them or face refund requests, and so on. Perhaps that is not the reason, but I guess it has something to do with it.

yeah, that could be it, or maybe because they have shipping locations in US, UK and China and they don't ship to any countries around/close-by these three ones. No idea why lol

but ah well, anyone living in countries supported by them can benefit by their services, especially if you want an accessory which is not shipped outside US.

Hello,

got my CP-571 today and it's great. Doesn't make the N9 make too big at all and it fits perfectly (of course it must as it is from Nokia). Swiping from the left is a bit difficult, but no problem for the other three directions.

I made some pics for you.

The nokia cr-122 car holder for n8 and e7 works nicely for the N9, too. Especially with the silicone cover on (which, IMO, is excellent).

Sent from my N9 using the default browser and the excellent VKB.

I just ordered a cr-122 from Amazon for 18.99 (US) seems like a good price for it.

Question: Are you suggesting using the cr-122 without the silicone cover on might not be so good? I am going naked currently and I love it that way, would rather not have to put a jacket on it. Can anyone speak to this with this accessory?

It works fine with or without the jacket.

Does anyone know if these are available in America or online? Nokia's website is useless. All I can find is the CP-572, which is for the lumia 800 (and thus blocks the flash).
