Cannot sign in my nokia account on my N9 since I bought it. Error message: Service currently unavailable. Credentials confirm correct (login via my other computers).

Googled and saw this - http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Maemo-and-MeeGo-Devices/Accessing-Nokia-Account-through-N9/td-p/1173415/page/2
Seems like my problem is not an isolated issue.

Like to ask if anyone from this forum encountered this problem and found a solution. Or maybe suggest ways to troubleshoot. Thanks in advance.

You need to do a hard reset. If the pictures and videos and all that are important to you, then you need to back those up before you do.

yeah sorry, we reported this to nokia, but like pretty much all bugs we reported, they don't even have the courtesy to comment on it.

yeah, anyone can make an account and log in and submit bugs.
they keep asking us to put them there... probably easiest to ignore in that place.

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to avoid a reset due to the apps that may be deleted.

I'm actually only interested in the apps that the telco installed. How do I backup the "extra" apps?
Also there are 4 games, i.e. angry birds, GOF2, NFS Shift and RealGolf2011. Will these be around after the reset?

GOF2 and NFS Shift you can download with apt-get
i'm not sure about the others :(
someone else might be able to help though.
when you do a backup it saves the names of the apps and it will try to download and install them again when you restore, but if the telco put them on manually or has some special image, it might not work.

When I hard reset those were still around, so I believe they were built into the firmware.

Thanks people. I confirm those 4 games exists in the repos when I did a apt-cache search.
For the useful "telco" apps, guess I'll just identify the files associated(by dpkg -L) and backup manually.

I've just hard reset my N9. All the apps are there upon first boot. I did not restore from backup but instead start configuring afresh manually. Able to login Nokia account now.

FWIW, I had developed this problem on my N950 and after an OTA upgrade to 1.1 it was working again.
So maybe they've fixed it ... but not updated / listened to / seen / cared about the developer.nokia bug. Sigh.

I know this is quite old but thought I should share it anyway - the issue can be fixed without device reset. Just unset /system/proxy and /system/http_proxy GConf keys and you should be good to go.

Instructions and kudos to ceroberts75 & targon for the solution @ here (http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Maemo-and-MeeGo-Devices/n9-account-application-can-t-connect-to-nokia-gmail-twitter/m-p/1203445/highlight/true)
