Hello,

I finally got my hands on a import N9 from Austrialia. The phone is unlocked and I can use my US AT&T sim card with no problem.

However, there are Optus Apps installed and many annoying Optus logos and messages all around.

I like to flash the phone and change the phone to a generic firmware. I tried using Navifirm to download the generic firmware and then using Phoenix to flash; but have no success trying to update the firmware or refurbrish it.

I'm getting this error below half way through the flashing process:

Unable to initialize flc flashing

If anybody had successfully change the firmware on their N9, please let me know how it was done.

Thanks!

Were you even able to find the firmware on navifirm? I'm in the same boat and would like to do the same.

Yes, all the N9 firmwares are on Navifirm.

You can try downloading them and try flashing the N9 with it.

Let me know if you have any success.

I one already exists, I'd appreciate a link to it. I have a black 64GB N9.

Thanks.
It's possible, I successfully flashed my 16GB Black N9 from Telstra Australia yesterday, with no issues. Heres how:

Get the maemo flasher released for Harmattan at http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php

You want Flasher 3.12.1 thats the harmattan one, the other flasher-3.5 2.5.2.2 didn't detect my device.

Then you will need to get the firmware image for your device, I used NaviFirm from http://www.symbian-toys.com/navifirm.aspx to get the Telstra branded firmware for my handset.

You want to do a warm-flash ( I have not tried a cold-flash, so do that at your own risk ) of your device. There are instructions at the maemo wiki, http://wiki.maemo.org/Flasher

The command I used was:

flasher -F FIRMWAREIMAGE.bin -f

Worked fine, but still, do at your own risk.

I think we need some senior members of this forum to give us some feedbacks before trying.

If you've tried it let me know if it works. Thanks.

I agree with you. I'm little gun shy at this point to try. But would like to do it, provided it works.

On the top of every page in the forum is a link to the tablets-dev mirror which is skeiron.org/tablets-dev

Flasher tools are on the same site: http://skeiron.org/tablets-dev/maemo-dev-env-downloads/

Everything you need is here:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82693

Be careful.
Decide what procedure fits best to your case, read,
understand and follow instructions!!
I have a 64g PR1.3 black n9. I switched from firm 40.2012.21-3_PR_006 To 40.2012.21-3_PR_009
and from Middle East region to UK.
I used the second method (Comprehensive reset )
Good luck
