Nokia N9 Landscape Virtual Keyboard Mod

Hey. I dont really like default keyboard ;/
So I decided to edit it a bit ;p
Imo it has become much easier to type messages with this modification.
I will be so happy if u like it, but u should understand that I don't know how it will look like with your local keyboard layout cuz the width and the height of it is different everywhere ;c
Here's an example of english and russian layouts:

Installation:
1. dl .zip archive
2. extract (for example in /home/user/MyDocs/)
3. open terminal
4. devel-su; password
5. cp -f /home/user/MyDocs/libmeego-keyboard.css /usr/share/themes/base/meegotouch/libmeego-keyboard/style/
6. reboot

every .zip archive includes:
1. vkb modification file
2. visual comparison of how it was (the original) and became
3. big, high-quality screenshots of new layouts
4. installation instructions (eng+rus)

I did as well. The title mentions nothing about what the thread is actually about -- modifying the vkb layout.

works well, i really like 1.1. One request, I'm not sure if its possible, but i personally find it incredibly annoying with the keyboards on how small the space key is. I constantly keep tapping the fullstop or comma. This could be easily (hopefully) remedied by moving these buttons outwards, and then increasing the size of the spacebar.

Is this an easy fix? Even further enhancement would be decreasing the size of ?123 and the "Enter / Send" key.

After a couple of hours of tweaking with some of the default keyboards, I finally managed to get one working.

The picture above shows your modification of the keyboard size, this will have to be done seperately. I then resized the symbol and action keys, removed the spacers, and set the space key to be "Stretched". No guarantees this will work with all phones, but I know it works with mine. File is attached.

First rename this file by removing the .txt extension. Place this file into /usr/share/meegotouch/virtual-keyboard/layouts/

Select the keyboard from the keyboards list. I have called it English (MD).

From quite a bit of use, hardly any typo's now, compared to always putting in the wrong letters, or a fullstop instead of a space

I just have a slight issue, with v1.1, when i hit the buttons in the lowest row, sometimes I get haptic feedback, but sometimes not. Keys themselves are working fine. Could you look into it, it can be very distracting.

Hi i was actually triyng to have a wider space bar but i don't really get how works blocs on the libmeego-keyboard.css files.
There is any doc to help me ?

Some blocks like this one (MImAbstractKeyAreaStyle.Landscape:keys35 ) refers to keys35. How do you know to what refer keys35 ?

How about adding ? and ' to the modified keyboard? These punctuation marks are commonly used and is quite troublesome to change to numeric keypad and back again just to type them.

Sry for bringing up this thread, but i was wondering if maybe it would be possible to make this an official keyboard layout which then could be downloaded via nokia store?!
im kind of not familiar with dev mode and terminal and i hesitate to try it out because i fear i might break something ;D
but it would be nice if that layout would just appear in keyboard settings.

OT:

I understand arrows for those who came from symbian but isn't the n9 kb so much more better...The time it takes to navigate using the arrows is more or less similar to you using your finger to navigate to that place instead...IMO the arrows break your regular typing pattern...

The only problem with this I have found is if you press "123" it switches to the old layout, when I press it again it switches back... Any fix?
