1. Get the flasher software released for Harmattan at:
http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-dev-env-downloads.php
(You want Flasher 3.12.1 thats the harmattan one, the other flasher-3.5 2.5.2.2 didn't detect my device.)
2. Then you will need to get the firmware image for your device, I used NaviFirm from http://www.symbian-toys.com/navifirm.aspx
Ensure you get the correct firmware!
3. Run Harmattan Flasher and type:
To flash ONLY rootFS:
flasher -F FIRMWAREIMAGE.bin -f
or
To flash root and EMMC use this command:
Flasher -f -F rootFS.bin -F EMMC.bin -R
4. Turn off N9 and plug into computer. Hold off button until the flasher detects the boot loader and starts flashing. (NB: May take several attempts at holding power button)
(5.) For Windows users, you may have to open the installing device drivers window once N9 is plugged in and "skip Windows driver Lookup".

o.O Does it work for you on PR1.1? Afaik, Nokia didn't release PR1.1 fw image and since downgrade is not possible, you can't flash a PR1.1 device.
Cant you just flash PR 1.1 over PR 1.1? IE a reflash?
waldelf

sure you can.. also there already is a PR1.1 image to download

Doesn't work for me, the Flasher just tells me this:
'-F' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Any clue why?

Its because you need to specify the "flasher" command before the -F. Right now you've just got the arguments or "options" specified without the command that actually runs the flasher.
if you add "flasher" (no quotes) at the beginning before the -F it should run.

Installed successfully ... booted up and asked me to confirm date and regional settings, shortly after came up with the accounts screens which I swiped away ... it's now been loading for 5 minutes. Is this normal, or was swiping away the accounts screen a grave error?

Fine now that I turned it off and then indulged its want for me to sign into an account. I assume this may be a bug (infinite boot cycle if you don't).

Hi ,, i'm confused .. between the two
To flash ONLY rootFS:
flasher -F FIRMWAREIMAGE.bin -f
or
To flash root and EMMC use this command:
Flasher -f -F rootFS.bin -F EMMC.bin -R
where did the above file come from ? i understand we only have two files 1.firmwareimage.bin and 2.emmc.bin .. so what is this rootfs.bin? is it the same file i.e firmwareimage.bin ?

Hey guys, new on the site & loving it, I see a lot of people speaking of Flashing their Phones, for what purpose is this?

1) if your phone has a region code that does not have PR1.1 available yet (eg branded firmware) you can flash another region code's PR1.1 firmware onto your phone such that you can have it sooner
2) if you bricked (ie screwed) your phone you can restore it by flashing

Is it possible to flash N9 which has PR1.1.1 22.2011.44-2.335_PR_335 with PR1.1.1 22.2011.44-2_PR_006?

your question is hard to parse grammatically.
im going to answer this question: 'what firmware image can i use to reset the rootfs on my n9?'
use NaviFirm to find this out. you have a code like 059**** on your sim card tray if you take it out. you select your phone, choose a revision that sounds new and exciting, enter your code, and download the 1.1GB file.
you can get NaviFirmEx here: https://code.google.com/p/navifirmex/
works fine in linux with wine. you can copy the url and use wget.
also works with windows, obviously.

My question is:
If I have a N9 which has firmware PR1.1.1 22.2011.44-2.335_PR_335
Can I flash it with PR1.1.1 22.2011.44-2_PR_006 version?

No, as no downgrade is allowed and flasher checks the whole string of the firmware name, you can't flash the same firmware version (22.xxx) with a lower PR-Number... :(
Doesn't work for me, the Flasher just tells me this:

Is there any way to change PR number, via Nokia Cooker?

I'd like to share my own experience about Flashing the N9 to PR1.1... I tried many times following instructions that I read in some different forums and I was desesperating about geting any result. So in resume, in my experience, the most important step I did and it work fast was: " Go start menu and press right click at the CMD Flasher Window and choose 'open as administrator' ", and then you ready to type the directory when the flash.exe was installed, in my case "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Flasher\flasher -F FirmwareImage.bin -f" and ready, you'll have no problem

One tip: Renamed the FirmwareImage with a short name like "N9FLASH.bin", and then, before you open the flasher window, click right side and press "open as administrator", and you ready to follow with the next steps. GoodLuck!it's flasher -F not just -F

ok so i broke my N9 (with apt-get dist-upgrade) and try to reflash it now. at the moment, the only thing that appears is the nokia logo.
when i open the sim-tray, it says 059L7R7 and its a N9 from denmark 64gb black. flasher says that current firmware is DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4_PR_009 but when i download the 059L7R7 from 20.2011.40, it says that downgrade not allowed. what can i do?
NSU doesnt work (tells to retry because cant detect device)
ENNINE
01-31-2012, 08:58 PM
The flasher checks complete string, and it has to be equal or greater than the one you have.
F.E.
DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4_PR_009
If you want to flash this phone, the flasher needs the same version or a greater one.
You can't flash this one with 20.2012.40-5_PR_005, or PR_006, but you can with PR_010...
So, the first string (20.2012) and the second (40-4_PR_009) - they has to be =< than the string you're flashing with in the same time.

01-31-2012, 09:04 PM
hmm yea but they are the same. the version installed on my phone is 009 and the image i have is 009 as well, there is no 010 or can i just rename the file?
/edit: just went to nokia service center, hope they can fix it (they need a bit though as they said, they have to download a 2,6 gb image)
ENNINE
02-01-2012, 08:33 AM
Yeah, you can download that too, from Nokia Care via Navifirm.

02-01-2012, 08:35 AM
hmm is this a different image? (they said, its some nokia internal rescue image or something)

They will clean it up with emmc.

02-01-2012, 09:34 AM
unfortuntely, they said that they cannot repair it and it has to be sent to finland (i am not in finland at the moment) so i think i am going to return it to the vendor as this is the faster way.. dont wanna wait 4 weeks for a new device

Hi,
I am a new to the N9 (previous N900 user). I just got my white N9 but I'm from the US and need access to FB and Skype and etc, all of which are not part of the China Firmware (PR 1.1 / MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan).
I NEED to reflash. Which should I use? I understand the risks but the N9 without FB and Skype is useless to me.
I am currently using 20.2011.40.4 but the China version. If I get another version (Switzerland or Northern Europe)
a) Will that be safe
b) Will those get FB and Skype?
I'd get the North American version but there is no North American Version. Your guidance is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help.
