it's on preorder on some places, shouldn't be too long now - definitely by new years holidays it will be shipped

I personally think that the white model with its glossy finish and the bold contrast of the white body with the deep black of the screen does not do any favors to the aesthetic of the device.
Compared to the white model, in my opinion, there's much more harmony in the black model aesthetics with its matte finish.

i wonder what's with the cyan and magenta 64gb then? there's hardly any in sight, either sold out or out of stock - i can't imagine cyan and magenta would be a lot more popular than black

64 GB Cyan & Magenta are non-existent, that's why there not even listed as options in the poll (as of this message, there are no plans of producing N9 in those combinations).
black 64GB... wouldv loved a cyan one though.... or even an orange one *hint hint*

I still have the idiot idea in the back of my mind to buy a 16gb cyan and transplant the case onto my 64gb black.
I do love the smell of voided warranties in the morning.

Despite the number of participants in this poll being just a small-small representation of the real number of people who have gotten the N9, I find it a little surprising that as of this message, the 16 GB Magenta model has gotten so little votes (0 as of this message).
Very interesting.
My hypothesis is:
a) Most of the people willing to fork $700-900 USD on just a phone are going to be guys, not girls, and magenta = pink, a socially girly color (disclaimer: as a guy, I think there's nothing wrong with liking pink, I for one, like pink formal shirts in suits).
b) Of the minority of females that do seem to have an interest in gadgets that is big enough for them to fork 700-900 on a "non-supported" device, it is my appreciation that this subgroup of females usually do not relate to the stereotype of the girly-hello-kitty-kind and they opt for more masculine aesthetics.
I think those two reasons above explain why the Magenta option is the lowest picked choice among buyers. From a sales standpoint, very telling about the market demographics, don't you think?

Nahhh, look at the number of females with S2 & Iphone - lots. The N9 do look sexy ya know
Let me give you a hint.....
1) 64GB is popular, but only available in black ;);)
2) N9 is for those who dare to explore, not those who's wondering what in the world is Meego

I wanted to get the Cyan 64 - but it's not to be seen. The Black 64GB version came available, so I bought it.
Still would have preferred the Cyan 64 - but the black screen against the black body does look very good.

As long as you have $$$ for cyan N9, the case swap can be done in 10-15 minutes, depending on how steady your hands are. Removing the screen from the case is rather easy, it on has like 2 or 3 screws holding it.
I personally think that the white model with its glossy finish and the bold contrast of the white body with the deep black of the screen does not do any favors to the aesthetic of the device.
As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - I personally cannot stop drooling over it  I'm a big fan of clean colors, high contrast, and such, especially white-black combo as my car (http://i42.tinypic.com/15piaz4.jpg) could prove ;)
Voted for White N9 tho I still don't have it - will get it the first day it appears in any shop in my vicinity, so it's as good as mine

guys what you think of getting black n9 and use soft cover blue? Will you still notice that it is a black n9? Currently only black n9 is available at expansys.

well.. i have female friends that prefer the cyan over magenta.. so yes
i think the market for the magenta is more of the younger female teens... and possibly the mothers that want to be hip
the only problem is, these young females dont have a job to make an acquisition of such a phone nor will their parents buy it for them.
As for the mothers... well... they most likely arent that interested in gadgets, so they would be following the trend (iphones) or be opting for the simple phones, just to make phone calls
it would be nice if, once they release more colours, to go to a store, pay a small amount of cash to change the colour...
i really want an orange device... it would be smexsy

Actually, I must say that even as a guy, I find the N9 in Magenta also extremely hot-looking. But any color is looking hot on the N9.
I only got myself a black N9 because I couldn't wait three weeks longer until it was available at German retailers, so I imported it from Denmark.
Otherwise I would have bought a Cyan one.
Someone willing to swap his/her Cyan one with a black 64 GB? :p

Id get the magenta if i had the patience to wait 2 weeks, but alas the first shipment i got my grubby little hands on were black n9s... thus i own a black n9.

Were you serious about willing to swap your 64 GB black N9 for the 16 GB Cyan or Magenta model? I also have the black 64 model, but I'm just curious about what you said.
Id switch my Black 16gb for a magenta 16gb in a heartbeat though.

Or better yet, you can get the Magenta/Cyan device reincarnated as the Lumia 800, that way you get to have both a black model and a color model, but you get to play with two different OSs.. a win-win :-D

It's hard to believe that the non-available White 64GB N9 has gotten more votes than the readily available Magenta 16GB N9.
And I'm positive that the White model is going to have a premium charge over the already over-the-top price the N9 has  Crazy expensive.

The Magenta is just not too practical.
Especially in a world where getting pink for a man would be considered gay, how could a normal person sport it? If you're going to stand out, it's obviously easier to go for something more aesthetic like White or Cyan rather than attract attention for the wrong reasons if you were to get Magenta.
Yes you could defend yourself about pink being ok for guys, but good luck convincing the people in the bus or street who see you using it - you can't stop what other people think and they're damn right to think anything.
I knew Nokia made a mistake by offering Magenta as a color, they should have chosen something else like Red, Green, Yellow whatever.
And if one wants to think in terms of pink is for women, obviously that's also not true as I bet you've encountered lots of women who don't like pink at all. I could imagine some celebrity buying it, hardly anyone else though.

vote went to the black 64GB
not that i intend to spend 600 to 700 bucks on a phone...
with a 64GB N900, with a physical keyboard (YES) i simply can't imagine
plus got a (black) N8 for the broken N900 and, honestly, except as a MP3 player i can't stand the touch screen; not that i use the kbd on the N900 that much except when in XTerminal (or the vkeyboard doesn't want to show up or accessing a contact quickly from the desktop or so) but still... even though there is a long way from the 7710 8 yrs ago to the N8, touch screen ONLY still isn't my thing
thanks gawd the N8 has a camera button :D
would be a shame not to use that
even thinking about getting a set of those (http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/cell-phone-lenses/)
if i can get a device with my contract renewal next summer which sells for 500 bucks on the "parallel market", i might consider forking out the remaining 200 or so to get one, though.

One really should think in terms of women as they tend to make up roughly half of the population :) It's a mistake to think in terms how many ladies (or guys :) ) you know don't like magenta. The question is how many of them would be compelled by it because it IS magenta, especially as the base form really has a very broad appeal (i.e. offering the N900 in magenta really would be a mistake).

Lol, a lil off topic but I came to Tysons Corner Mall to get my sim cut at a kiosk a friend owns, but I walk by the grand opening of a Microsoft retail store and there is a line to get in. They have some Lumia 800s I think on display or demo. I'm so gonna go in there and breakout my brand new n9 to see the reactions I get. Will update once I get kicked out.

Magenta or red as it's generally called, is a lucky colour among the chinese community. Look up Chinese New Year, everything in red, for good luck. The pink of the N9 is actually a nice looking shade of red. I dont think Nokia made a mistake, the red is meant for Asia region ;)
Is it not interesting that no votes from China in the country thread? I reckon they are in the chinese language forums
White isnt a popular colour over here, associated with mourning or death- no offense to those who want the white, white is more preferred in Western countries. Or even just plain practical, white easy to get stains.

Ok so I went to the Microsoft retail store grand opening, one cool thing was I got to meet Cal Ripken (legendary baseball player here in the states). So after that I go over to the Windows Phone section. They didn't have any Nokia phones, I start talking to the rep there and he starts going on and on about the Samsung Focus S, how amazing it is, how light it is on and on. The whole time I'm holding my n9 in my hand, after his pitch he glances down and is like omg is that the Lumia. I was like nope the n9 running harmattan/meego. He stutters a bit and asks to look at it. He starts playing around with it, and I can see he's totally into it. Then he says I can totally see the potential Nokia and Windows have. The dude has already drank the WP7 kool-aid so of course I don't expect him to jump ship, but the look on his face when he was playing with the hardware and figuring out the swiping on the software side said it all. All in all a fun visit.
