I have to say that this is working better and better for me.
Please see this first : gestures (http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HowToInputMethod770?highlight=%28gesture%29#head-5cde93aac9d7a00c1d81860d67d6470417758386)
I would bookmark it.
I've not been tainted by graffitti <sp?>
I have found you can write-over mistakes and the up/down shift key is a good idea.
Open anything and change the input method to handwriting.
Open a tools/teach window. You can then use the squiggly in the left column to switch between what you are typing into and the teach application.
try writing a-z lower-case. remember elementary cursive? an "a" is a circle with a tail. an "e" is a horizontal with a circle around it. I first told my daughter that the thing could not understand cursive, but the gestures are there.. the tails on g and j and q are important.. watch the line also: a "p" that goes below the line is lower case.
if you write a character and it shows up in the wrong case, hit the "up/down" case button above the box that lets you select input method.
in the teach window (hit the squiggle to change tasks,) select a character that's giving you a hassle and then touch one of the examples: it will show you how to make the letter.
the only thing I've not gotten is the "/"
to fix this, I did a "shortcut"
the "text" of the "shortcut" is what gets typed after the gesture.
the gesture I made for the "/" starts below the line and goes the way the slash does.
it was immediately recoginzed.
next: the fence for "pipe"
read on
LARGER letters that are shaped the same seem to come out capitals...
