So today i finally got myself a nokia n9 and i already have the/a first problem:). I noticed it had PR 1.0 installed and i wanted to upgrade it to 1.1 but couldn't do it via Nokia Software updater because it said there's no updates available.

So then i tried it with Nokia flasher, i followed all the steps from this (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1122756) thread and got error code 10, security failure, downgrade disallowed. Is there any way to flash it? My software version is: 10.2011.34-1.313.01_PR_313

Hi!

Got the same problem, must be the Slovenian firmware... Been tired of waiting for an update, decided to flash. I've tried several images (from Nokia sever and from external server), always the same error. Allso tried via terminal, got error 404... Is there any way around it, or must we wait for Nokia to decide to finally roll out the update to the sunny side of alps.

Thanks, cheers

Looks like you must wait.

Yep. This is the problem:

059L8W8: N9 RM-696 Mobitel telekomunikacijske storitve SI 16GB Cyan

I mailed Mobitel and they replied that the new version can be installed by a Nokia service guy. [novo verzijo vam lahko naloži serviser telefonov Nokia]

I think they maybe don't know what they are talking about, it's a silly solution :D

You could try this (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1134858&postcount=20) from the Change n9 product code? (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=80639&page=2) thread, i don't have the balls to try it yet. Please report how did it go if you do it.

Hi!

Mobitel confirmed that N9 will get the uptate in this month. So you can either flash it or wait... :)

I have the same issue with my N9. The version I'm trying to install is 20.2011.40-4.339.2 and the model is 059L7S2.

Which other versions can I install?

I've changed the Slovenian code to Balkan, but update via Nokia Software Update fails. It shows the updating progress bar for a second and the it turns off. If i try to flash it i get the error code 10.
The only firmware that it let's me flash its the one is already installed.

Hi, while flashing my N9, after a "apt-get autoremove" of death which left my phone bricked, I am seeing "Downgrade disallowed" but to my knowledge the versions are ok.

Basically it's a N9 coded 059L4L3, Argentina. I try to flash the firmware:
DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.348.1_PR_LEGACY_348_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin

obtained from navifirm (I've tried both production-external and nokia-care)

and I am getting the following error:

desktop:/float/download/n9/firmware/image_20_nokia_care$ sudo flasher -f -F DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.348.1_PR_LEGACY_348_ARM_RM-696_PRD_signed.bin -F DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.NOMAPS_EMMC_NOMAPS.bin -R

ERROR: Failed to flash images

From what I can tell it's the same version already in the device, DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4.348.1_PR_348, could anybody help me understand why am I seeing "Downgrade disallowed", and more important how to fix it?

The same error is shown when I don't use the eMMC image. For the record I am using Linux Ubuntu 2.6.38-8-generic 64 bits, and the phone isn't booting.

Thanks,
Sebastian.

Most likely you have updated your phone with SSU, and timestamp in over the air variant update is never that on full flash image, so you will always get downgrade disallowed message (this has been explained in multiple posts before), but luckly for you, you can just upgrade to pr1.2 or pr1.3 instead of pr1.1.

i have a cyan N9 16 GB , forgot the security code so i had to flash my phone so i zeroize the device with this command
"flasher -f -F main.bin --erase-user-data=secure
flasher -f -F main.bin -F emmc.bin --flash-only=mmc"

this appeared " erasing this may take a while " but when i entered second command it replied with "error code 10 security failue"
" downgrade disallowed "
product code is 059K0Z8

HELP !!
Thanks

@Danishgr8: without knowing which version+variant you were flashing and what version+variant you had on your phone, it's not easy to help you.
Post some details, please.

So are you sure that your device *currently* has also that version & variant ?
Because if you currently have *any* other variant for PR 1.3, that would explain the 'downgrade disallowed' message.
You should be able to get the current version with "flasher -i" (if that value hasn't been already overwritten with your latest attempts).

Five cents from me:

You never want to do --flash-only=emmc command, that is just wrong, and if your following some flashing instruction that says to do that, then the instructions are just plain wrong too.

The right command to erase lockcode and flash to factory state can be done with just one command (you never need to run 2 seperate commands).

sudo flasher -f -F main.bin -F emmc.bin --erase-user-data=secure -R

And second point
DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin is not a variant file, that is the vanilla file.

If you want better quesses about you problem, you need to copy paste the full flashing log including the flashing command.

I borrow a sentence from rainisto's answer to point out the version and the variant numbers:

And second point
DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin is not a variant file, that is the vanilla file.

40.2012.21-3 is the firmware version. In particular this is the so-called PR1.3 release.
001 is the number of the variant. As rainisto wrote, this one (001) is the basic variant, or vanilla file, or the 'Rest-of-World' variant.
If the device previously had any different variant than 001, e.g. 009 for Central Europe, or e.g. some of the 3xx used for operator-specific variants, it is not possible to flash the device using a variant 001, because it would be considered a 'downgrade'.
