-- what's this "good" screen business?! It's a FANTASTIC screen. Higher res than any PDA. Gives the OQO a hell of a run for its money and a fraction of the cost. And it can be BRIGHT!

Somebody needs to hack Tux's picture onto those illustrations.
The level of art represented also seems to reflect their casual lack of CAD software...
My bet is they saw a 770 ad in an airline magazine...

The screen comment has me irked. A coworker saw mine and thought that the icon-areas were a static image, kind of like those plastic stickers w/backlights they put on 'display' copies of cell phones.

Well, Guys, I hate to break it to you but, I am the commenter and actually own a 770. The pics aren't great because they are hand drawn (and an artist I am not).
Now let me break some bad news, and good news, to you.
First, the screen resolution is not as great as everyone might want to believe. It is the plain truth. Sure, it is better than any PDA that I have ever owned (and I have owned a lot of 'em), or possibly have seen, but IMHO the PSP has a sharper screen, althought it may not be able to match the 770 technically.
Now the good news, the 770 flat out beats the pants off of any PDA that I have ever owned, including my clam-shell Clie UX-50. The 770, from an operational perspective beats the pants off any PDA period.
Give the review process a chance. The thing to remember about the particular review that I am conducting is that one can only put so much on the screen. This particular review is being done with a very large crayon and you are always welcome to rebut in a well written comment. I would suggest you stay tuned to the review as the "meat and tatters" of it are in posts to come. Trust me, the majority of it is all good news.

i'm not suprrised, the psp is a full blown million color machine. Movies and games are meant to be watched on it, everything else should be on the nokia ;)
Off course you are entitled to your own opinion, If you like the PSP screen better, fine.
However, The PSP screen is most definitely not sharper than the 770's
-PSP:
4.3 inch 16:9
480 x 272 pixels
16.7 M colors
-N770:
4.3 inch 16:9
800 x 480
65K colors
More colorfull maybe, sharper most definitely NOT.

Ill: Granted we're biased here (go figure), but iit's all just a matter of a differenceof opinion. The brand/model fanaticism is taking over it seems, heheh.
And for the record, I liked the review pics ;)
... and I agree - - this thing's the leader of the new gen of PDAs.

Perhaps it, then, is a question of presentation. Much like the Mac/Windows issue. The Mac just looks better. If the GUI were more aesthetically pleasing maybe the 770 would take the lead. Just one man's opinion.
I'll go one step further and say that the 770 goes beyond anything like a PDA.

I've fondled a PSP. Anyone in NYC can -- at the Wired Store on Houston St. I wasn't impressed by its screen.
Don't take my comment personally or as an attack. I know we each have different tastes. Yours just happens to be bad taste. (Kidding!)

Well put. It's even multi-user.. a minute ago I was browsing while my windoz machine was backing-up the entire 770 file system.
My earlier post was as well meant to be humorous. Having a Polish surname and living in middle Georgia, not many spurs stick.
You did seem to indicate "hillbilly" was a bad thing, though...

Well, not a bad thing just something that this Alabaman is having a hard time getting used to.
Mike: and as for bad taste, I will agree with you, only if we say it in the context of my selecting my ex-wife. :)

Completely off-topic and I'm not sure you qualify but I find a better term than "my-ex-wife" is:
the mother of my children

In my particular flavor of bad taste, I was lucky enough not to have had children with her.
