I have a nokia 770 with the 2007Hacker OS. I tried to change the hostname now I cannot use sudo gainroot I have no way of becoming root on the lpocal machine. I get the error sudo: unable to lookup via gethostbyname(). I can ssh into the nokia via ip addy as root but no local access as root.
How Can I fix this?
Thanx

Changing the hostname is not a good idea, lots of things fall apart. Set the hostname back to what it was originally.

Does anyone know what the default hostname is for the 2007hacker os?

Try "Nokia-N800-48".
If you really want to change the hostname, you need to change it in both /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts.

Thanx for your help. I can now sudo gainroot but the hostname doesn't stay when I reboot. I've edited the /etc/hostname and the /etc/hosts files but still it doesn't stay. can you post your copies of these files so I can compare them. I don't know where my problem lies.
Thanx,

No, sorry. My advice: reflash and don't try changing it again! ;)
