All he does is spam the forum with his advertising garbage. I believe this is against forum rules....and it is annoying.

Only friendly advice here: :D
Next time just hit the red triangle icon in the upper right corner of the offending post and leave a note there. It's the designated Spam Early Warning and Eradication Remote (S.E.W.E.R.). Leave the rest to Admin and his Elves.

The problem is that when spammers hit, it is difficult to see what the active messages are, because they are all from the spammer. It is irritating to log on to ITT to see what the current topics are and discover that they are all about some computer...
Spam isn't just an inconvenience, it is an attempt to make normal communication impossible and force you to pay attention to the message of the spammer.

This sort of spam has been a persistent problem here at ITT and the admins are usually slow to respond and don't seem to be taking pro-active measures against preventing this sort of spam in the future.

I still say a three day wait limit for posting will stop most of this crap.

Or simply throwing all posts from newly registered users into a moderation que for review by a panel of active forum members before posting it to the board. This would make it easy for longtime board members to help police the boards without needing to wait on an admin.

Just set it up where new users have to wait 24 hours before posting.
And appoint some moderators to help handle the load.

The biggest problem is when I want to read ITT through the RSS reader.. I've set it up to load the full (first) article of each thread. That way I can do a little bit of off-line reading. However, some days all or most entries are just huge lists of irrelevant 'buy' items.
