Good how-to, Aisu. If I may, I'd like to add some bits to your tutorial for us Mac users.
You can find a decent (and free) VNC Server here: Vine server (http://www.redstonesoftware.com/products/vine/server/vineosx/index.html)
And simple instructions with pics for setting a static IP on Mac OS X 10.4.x: PortForward.com (http://portforward.com/networking/static-Mac10.4.htm).
