View Full Version : Trouble with the Software Update Wizard?

Ok I have been trying for the last 3 hours to update the firmware for the 770. I have followed the instructions provided by Nokia to a 'T'. However each time I run the wizard all I get is a message that it could not detect a device. I have tried this now on 2 computers in the house and in both it can't detect the unit. I can however go to my browser and find the Nokia drive in the explorer. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

If you have a RS-MMC card in the unit, try removing it first. Also try connecting directly to the computer rather than via a USB hub. You are seeing the USB symbol at the top right of the 770's screen, right? Keep the home button held down until you do so that the 770 doesn't fully boot.

That helped me as well. The progress bar in the dialog displayed on my host computer zipped up to 10% done, then froze solid.

After plugging the USB cable directly into the computer instead of into a USB hub, the problem went away, and I successfully upgraded.

Just got my 770 Saturday. The software version is 2.2005.45-7. The latest on maemo is something like 0.2005.45-8.

Is that a later version?

Get an even later version from Nokia's support page, 51-13. See related thread.

got upgraded to this one

3.2005.51.13

this is the software version (for the 770 tablet) that i have now.

but i think it does'nt be confused with maemo that is the dev environement. (i'm i wrong ?)

Where do you get the Software Update Wizard? I don't remember there being a disk in the box, and I can't find it on Nokia's site. I would actually prefer to use a Mac, but the GUI that I have been able to find sort of scares me. What is the safest way to update the 770 firmware?

Thank you. The wizard download is missing from the nokiausa site (although it says to download it there is no link).

lol no worries, glad I could help :)

Just dont ask me what it does as I havent used it , my 770 came with 3.2006.49-2 on it which as far as I can gather is what the update installs.
